I'm with you on that one. Same instructions for most of my equipment. I mean once you're there and the oil is drained, why not change the filter? It's not like you're going to break the bank.

I agree, you went to the trouble of changing fluid, you also change the filter...

Kinda like a kid taking a nice clean bath, drys off, then puts dirty underwear back on... /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

GlueGuy,

I looked at the manual, and the 50 hour service says to change the hydraulic fluid, but not the filters or even clean the screens.

My "operators manual' shows engine and transmission filter change plus engine and transmission oil change. It further states these jobs must be done at 50 hr.

This information is on the "Service Interval" chart.(B7400/B7500)

What are you reading from?

Al,

Sounds like the same manual. Mine's the "Operator's Manual" for the B7400/B7500. The code number on the back of the manual is: 6C120-6311-2.

The chart I am reading is on page 48 (first page of the maintenance section). Items marked for change/replace at 50 hours are (1)Engine oil, (2)Engine oil filter, (3)Trans oil filter, (4)Trans fluid.

Whoops. I see what I did. Item (5) Trans strainer is not marked. I guess I miss-read it.

It may meet the lubrication requirements, of both UDT and Super UDT as I think UDT meets the LUBRICATION requirements of Super UDT. I don't think I'm damaging my L35 by using UDT, but it does operate slower with the UDT.

Sounds like you don't see really low temperatures where you are - I was interested in the differences at around 32 F and below (gets to -10 F occasionally here during a Winter). I'll have to go back a find that thread that you had started with all the UDT / Super UDT discussions.

The writers of my Owners Manual liked to keep their options open - the lubricant spec. table lists UDT or Super UDT, but the section on fluid replacement only lists Super UDT. Maybe a 50/50 mix? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

If I was contemplating much of any below 40 use, (tractor is in garage before use) I wouldn't think twice about the Super.

Speaking of oil recom's, my manual says for the front differential, EITHER SUPER UDT or 80/90W? What... 90 wt is OK but UDT isn't? I've never seen a recommendation so goofy. What is Super, about 10W? How about saying, use anything you can pour through a funnel? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Bird, YOU'RE RIGHT!

I guess pouring rice or sand wouldn't work too well.
