I suspect that if they shot a few of them the rest might get the message and leave. There is probably some stupid law against that too.

Good friend - thought the local turkeys were quite nice. She began feeding them. The numbers in her yard grew. All out of proportion.

They were tearing up her lawns - her flowers AND roosting in/on her porch. When the turkey poop got ankle deep - she gave up on them.

It took three months for this "problem" to move on.

This is where my PCP airgun is ideal…if in an area with tree hugging neighbors. It is nearly silent with the moderator affixed.

A suppressed .22 would work too.
Suppressed 22 subsonic is scary quiet..... Here it don't matter, was out bow hunting last night and one of the neighbors was sighting in a selection of rifles, including a couple of cannons I think :) Way more than 30-06

Simply quit feeding them. They will be gone in a week or so.

Speed up the exodus with some of this.

We made the mistake of feeding one small male raccoon back when I was maybe 17 years old. All fun and games to have a little critter sit in your lap and eat snacks, play with the dog, follow you around the yard.... then they hit puberty, start getting aggressive, figure out the food is IN the house, then start tearing every window screen, door, etc... finally scratching holes through the roof. DNR gave us a trap and took him off our hands. Mom and dad stopped feeding the wildlife except for the infrequent bird food so they wouldn't develop a dependency. Learned that lesson.

So even if she stops feeding them, there's a good chance they'll damage her property trying to get the food. She might try an electric fence around the entire house and go cold turkey on the food. They may move along after a while.

Another big concern is rabies. Yikes.

There's a page on Facebookaho where it's full of ''cute'' videos of people feeding and ''adopting'' squirrels or coons and it's for 1; poor neighbor they didn't ask for this and 2; what do you think it going to happens ?? spoiler alert they will reproduce and become dependent of you. You are not saving them only putting more individuals in jeopardy.

I can relate to her problem... A couple of years ago we had a crippled Canada goose show up in our yard. Naturally, I felt sorry for her and started throwing out food for her. It wasn't long before she had a couple of friends dropping in to visit with her. As you can guess, the population quickly exploded to over 50 Canada geese 'dropping' in (literally), to visit. And thier visits quickly extended to all-day visits.
It takes a cold heart to not try to help wild animals, but the fact is - they don't need nor want/need our help. They just want to be left wild.
A few years ago, I got an odd call from my neighbor that started out with "Now I haven't been drinking...."

But you and your wife need to sneak out your front door, and come in along the side of my house to my front door!!!!

Be really quiet and move stealthily

He then went on to explain that he has a wild turkey looking in his front door.... and I swear I haven't been drinking!!!!

Well my wife and I followed his instructions. And sure enough, there is a wild turkey at his front door wanting to come inside

That turkey followed us around for an hour or two and then finally lost interest and wandered off.

The mail lady was the one who finally solved the mystery of the turkey.

This old lady about a 1/2 mile from us taimed a bunch of wild turkeys.

She ended up getting sick and admitted to the hospital, and the turkeys lost their meal ticket.

It was almost the start of turkey season when this happened, so there were some stories rolling around town of local hunters having odd experiences with the turkeys they bagged that year

I've told this story several times on TBN but I will again. After having damage to his vehicles several times one summer my neighbor to the south killed 153 squirrels off his one acre lot in about three months. The more he shot, the more showed up. And nobody was feeding them.
