...and it will hunt and eat your mice," is what I read a while back here on TBN. This is NOT true.

My cat has food in his bowl all the time and in the last 3 days he has ate all his kills: 2 mice, 1 rat, 1 gopher and (sadly) 1 bird. This evening after he ate ALL the the mouse he went to his food bowl and ate more. He must be in a growing spurt. I just wish he would not put the mouse in my shoe before he eats it.

We had a cranky 21 year old cat that for as long as I could remember would kill a chipmunk or two each week, eat the heads off the chipmunks, then barf them up on the porch. I never saw that cat eat an entire kill in the 18 years that I lived with her.

I have 12 barn cats on our farm. Before we got them, we were overrun with mice and rats, as we're a livestock farm, and any leftover feed was a feast for them. We feed our cats, and feed them well, with Iams cat food, and they're worth every penny. They're all great killing machines, and our rodent population is way down, and no longer a nuisance. They rarely eat any of their kills, leaving a bunch as presents for me in various places. If they don't leave them as presents, amazingly, they bury them. Sometimes, they even run up to my wife or me, and drop a dead rodent at our feet, and we praise them mightily!! From everything I've read, our situation is not unusual, and you should always feed your cats.

When it gets a little warmer your cat will be bring home some of Eddie Walker's favorite reptiles.
Make sure you check your shoes before putting them on.:D

Don't feed your cat and you'll have a mangy looking cat.

There were feathers on top of my tractor's hood yesterday

And you should always have you cat spayed or neutered as well;)

Very good advice. A month after our killing machine showed up on our porch he was old enough to be neutered. After he was neutered he stopped spraying. He also is kept up to date on all his shots, and has access to the screened in patio for his long digestive naps. I was not a "cat person" before this cat showed up.

Ron, with copperhead season approaching I am worried. Last year he was playing with one.

By the way, the wife's "city cat-condokitty" that came with us in our move to the country still has no clue why the new kitten is eating those disgusting things.:D
