Don't mow with your wallet?

Can't figure why someone would need to wear their wallet while mowing. It's kinda like wearing jewelry while playing sports. Silly.

I was fully dressed today while bush hogging, as protection against a potential yellowjacket. Also, stuff is so grown up now, it keeps stuff off my back and all. Up until now, I'm naked, sitting on a towel (to keep from skidding around on the seat in my own sweat, and to also not leave skid marks on the seat).

There are other reasons for not mowing with your wallet. Having been a "driver" of all sorts over most of my life, and sitting on my wallet most of the first years, I would occasionally get a tingle in my right leg. After a visit to the doctor, I quit sitting on my wallet. It isn't good for some nerve that runs along there and the fatter the wallet, the worse it makes it.My wallet comes out and goes on the console/dash/toolbox whenever I go driving. Besides, have you ever tried to get replacement blades for a wallet?

After similar experience, I've been putting my wallet in my front pocket for many years now. Solves the tingling leg and twisted back problems.

Since my tractor work is all at home I leave the wallet in the house whenever I'm tractoring.

I don't have a personal wallet story, but you reminded me of one that happened while out bow hunting with some friends. This guy with us had two small bucks come right up to him while he was sitting behind a tree that he didn't want to shoot. Too small. Behind them was a good buck that he did want to shoot, but couldn't get a clear shot at because of the small bucks. He looked around, but couldn't find anything to toss at them, so he tossed his wallet at them. It worked, except it scared off all of the deer.

He then spent the rest of the morning trying to find his wallet. It was camoflage. At noon, we all met up and he told us the story, so the four of us went to where he was and tried to find it. We never did. It just totally vanished!!!

I personally carry my wallet everywhere, but it's on a leash. I use one of those big leather wallets on a chain and have yet to lose it (though there was this one time I got drunk and misplaced my pants...). I wear the baggy cargo pants/shorts because I have to be a mobile office. So at any 1 time I will have my wallet with all my id, cards, and money, my cellphone which is my office number and my day planner/organizer, notepad, pen and pencil, can of chew and/or cigarettes, lighter, pocketknife, leatherman, and occasionally my .357...my wife calls me batman because of all the crap I carry.

I worked for an Engineering Manager for a while that once lost his bow while bowhunting. It too was camo, and he set it down for some reason, and didn't find it until a week later. I wasn't too sure it was a good plan to come to work and tell us all about it. :D

About 15 years ago when I first bought my property, I lost my wallet while mowing all weekend. I didn't discover it missing until I got home, 90 miles away. Being single, it put me into a heck of a mess because I had all my credit cards, IDs, and cash in that wallet.

I drove to work and called my Dad to ask if I could borrow $20. He lived about half-way to my farm, so I took off a couple of hours early and drove to his house. I used $10 for gas (it was much cheaper in those days:rolleyes: ). I got to my property about two hours before sunset and began searching.

I had worked in the woods most of the weekend and the ground was covered in brown leaves. I searched and searched to no avail. I felt helpless and hopeless as the sun began to set. Finally, I remembered that I had mowed an area on my pond dam between the pond and the big lake. I drove down to the lake for a final desperate search and found my wallet laying in clear sight, open, with a credit card hanging out. Whew! What a relief!:D

Since that time, I always leave my wallet in the house or my car when tractoring. I don't ever want to feel that desperate and dejected again. I will never forget how losing that wallet made me feel.
