Like stated earlier. What gas is not sold on the 15th will be sold on the 14th or 16th. Besides China will gladly buy the gas that you do not buy on the 15th. The price of oil is not determine by the USA.

Looks like the 15th IS the time to fill up - NO LINES...

I'll go along with it.

Here's my thought. We all know aprox 6 or more people closely right, and those people know 6 people closely etc etc - you get my point.

How quick does 6x6x6x6x6x6 add up to. With just 9 calculations of 6 you contact 60,466,176 people, that your know and they know.

So why don't we have the power to effect change, Oh, wait I know it's called apathy, and the peole who sell to us know that.

Kendall69,
You have really opened my eyes. Now I know why we can't elect an Independant Party President, we just can't stick together-----------not even for a day.

Hmmm, "independant thought" vs an old and tired "chain email". Well, I guess I'll have to take independant thought. I have no idea how we got to "Independant Party" and the election of a US president from where this thread started

I will go along and not buy gas or diesel on the 15th. $3.00 a gallon is more than I like to pay, but after visiting relatives in Europe and seeing them pay $5.00 to $7.00 I don't see a lot of reason to complain.

If we want cheaper gas we need to drill more wells and build more refineries. Both of those are hard to do (maybe impossible) with todays enviromental protection politics.

heres my gripe....instead of complaining about rising gas prices, along with the rising prices of everything else.... WHEN WILL WAGES INCREASE?! that would solve most of everyones complaints about high prices. too bad though that they seem to be the very LAST thing to rise...not to mention the percentage rate of a wage increase doesnt match or exceed the cost of living.

High gas prices are not meted by people complaining, griping, or sending rediculous chain e-mails that have actually been around for 10 years.

You know gas prices are high when it hurts the wallet enough to actually change behavior. We in this country are driving as much as ever, heating our houses as hot as ever, leaving the lights on as much as ever, and running the air conditioner as much as ever. Demand is continually increasing. Individual behavoir is not changing. Gas prices are not high yet.

i still want a wage increase. heres an idea, everytime gas goes up, my boss matches it in my check....right down to the penny.haha oh how i wish this were the case.

It is not Apathy, it is Chemical Dependency. We are addicted to a way of life that revolves around gasoline powered transportation. It is our wages and high standard of life in this country that has gotten us into this situation. Everyone makes enought to afford a car so they have one. If we couldn't afford it, we wouldn't.

As mentioned, not buying fuel on a particular day is useless as we will have to buy it at some point so the money transfer from us to them all averages out by the end of the month anyway. What would be more effective would be to target a particular oil company, but since the same fuel delivery truck fills a number of different stations, this is almost impossible for the average person to figure out exactly what oil company you are hurting by not buying fuel from a particular place.

Wanna do something that has a real impact? Shvl73 has the right idea. Start a practice such as walking/biking to work or taking the bus, that removes the NEED for you to purchase that $30-$50 tank full of fuel. My commute is fixed, I fill up my truck once every 2 weeks. If I biked/bussed, for 2 weeks each month, I would reduce my commute costs by 1/3 per month and only fill up once a month instead of twice. But then I have to meet the transport systems schedule instead of my own. Moving around at my own schedule and pace is a tough habit to break.

RF,
I echo your thoughts. Our wages never keep up with the cost of living. The sad part about this is if we make too much money doing what we were trained do or we ask for a raise, the company simply closes it doors and moves its operations to another country. It's that visious circle. Let's talk about the convience store that this "one day don't buy gas" will hurt. In my little town (500 people) there used to be 3 privately owned "mom & pop" gas stations. They are no longer in business anymore because a large convience store was built and ran them out of business because they couldn't compete with the larger stores prices. So, should I pity the big chain convience store when they loose money for a day, I think not. We all say gas is much cheaper in the USA than in European countrys, yea, for now. Just remember, 4 years ago gas in the USA was $1.35 a gallon .

one thing i'd like to add to your post about those "chain stores" as compared to a "mom & pop" store...service is night and day. would i stand in line for 15 min behind several people playing the lottery, that arent buying anything from the store? probably not at a mom and pop store, but ill be darn if you dont encounter that problem at almost EVERY convinience store these days. i stand in line waiting to pay for a drink, gas, or something the store will make a profit on while i wait on lottery players that should have a SEPERATE line to begin with. thats just one example. i like stores that i shop at often enough that i develop a good relationship with....ive shopped in my local "chain store" for about 7 yrs and i will bet dollars to donuts they couldnt tell you my name, much less anything else about me. its nice to do business with people who act like they care, and really appreciate you buying from them. i learned in college that the service revolution is the future and the industry revolution is a thing of the past. service in this country needs to be how it was back in the day!
