Some folks at our local farmer's market have been operating one of those for over twenty years. I love watching the machine do its thing. My observation is that, while its operation is automated, it still takes constant vigilance/monitoring to assure everything runs smoothly without the assembly line getting a traffic jam somewhere. Still, it produces really nice little donuts...hot, with cinnamon sugar coating, they are irresistable!

We've been meeting up with old friends who live in Ohio about once a year by picking someplace interesting in NY lately, since that is about mid-way for both of us. Cooperstown was a nice place with lots of interesting stuff around. Fly Creek seems to be a case of a farm family figuring out how to make a living, and doing it well. Their donuts/food were very tasty and they were doing a healthy business in their store too.

This year, the plan is to visit the winery areas in the Finger Lakes region together. Lots of nice/fun stuff in NY State.

We have a local place that does a nice christmas tree shopping gig, and during fall they do the corn maze/pumpkins, blueberries in the summer,
and they also seem to be expanding and doing well. I also believe they find some grant money to help out with their "agri-tourism" business.

Many many finger lake winery tours! some you just grab a map and drive yourself. have to have a DD though!
not to mention the many state parks and gorges etc. and Niagara Falls is another big tourist area obviously.

Two hour drive from our place, but I have to say cider donuts are one of the farm stand items I have trouble passing up.

They have one exactly like this at the Pike Place Market in Seattle. Its been there for at least 10 years, and it great to watch. They make only three types of donuts there (plain, sugared, and cinnamon). They are seriously good when they are fresh!
