Is it just me or this there more of this going on lately? It's making me insane. I see a post and respond. I browse some more and see the same title of post that is highlighted, indicating new replies. I check it out and can't find earlier my reply. I try to convince myself that I am not going nuts and that I clearly remember responding.

Anyway, is there anything in particular we can do to minimize this? Do the new members need reassurance that the diehard TBN'rs will see their post?

Paul,

I've wondered the same thing, but now that I've turned 50+, I was writing it off to.....Ummm.....I forget./w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

I think part of the problem might be that the first post is just put out in the first section the person thinks it should go, and then the poster finds a different section and realizes that it should have gone there, so posts it again.

Various software programs will not allow the "accidental" addition of information that is already in the database, such as social security numbers. A message appears stating that the information already exists. I wonder if something like that, using the topic's Subject Name, would be possible? Hmmm /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif? Sounds like a WHOLE lot of work for Muhammad /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif!

If the moderators see double posts, the duplicates get deleted. If you see one, click on the Notify Moderator button at the bottom of the post.

How would the moderator know what's wrong with the post and where the duplicate is?

The moderator would have to investigate the post. You're right, it wouldn't be obvious from the content of the post.

We'll put a note on the new thread post page with some basics... like don't post in multiple forums, read the guidelines, etc.

I think a lot of it depends upon how a person browses through the posts. I think that the more experienced users use the "Recent xx hours" or "Recent xx days" option to browse through the posts.

I believe the inexperienced users go to particular areas of the board ("Kubota Owning/Operating" and "Attachments" for example), and if they need to post on a subject that applies to both areas, they will post in both areas to get maximum exposure. I believe that they honestly don't realize that people see both posts via the "Recent ... Posts" option (or at least I hope that that is the case...)

I think mostly that's the case Kelvin...

TBN to me has gotten overwhelming... and I've been here a couple of three days... /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

I can imagine how a newcomer might find the TBN site... the key to success is "navigation", getting in and getting out of places...

I think Muhammad and Ibrahim have done a superb job of mapping this site out... but if someone has a "better" idea... you know they will listen for change to make things better not for sake of change alone...

A couple years back, I had found jPlan site and found it difficult to navigate around... I really tried multiple times but found it very time consuming(even more so was the signing in process - it keep forgetting who you say you were when you say it after you say it many times over)... so after awhile you don't want to waste your time anymore...

Anyhow, we have thousands of members and visitors out there participating on TBN and collectively together nobody is smarter than "all of us"... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I wonder if it would be useful to have check boxes in the notify moderator page like duplicate post, wrong forum, bad language, insulting. You hate to see posts disapear just because they were posted twice or are in the wrong place.

If a post gets moved because is was in the wrong forum, a post is made in the original fourm indicating where the post/thread was moved to.

Muhammad - would it be possible to indicate on the Notify Moderator page why someone is notifying the moderator?
