Yes, I think this is important. What may be offensive to the notifier with the mention of a single word or phrase in a post may not be offensive to many others. The notifier should have the opportunity to state the reason why they are notifying the moderator. If even one or a couple individuals are offended by something in somebody's post, it at least warrants a look-see by the moderator so proper judgement can be made and at best possible deletion of the post.

Another way to do it might be to instant message the moderator with complaint and the URL of the message. But hopefully we won't have to do a whole lot of complaining.
