Comparison Down to 3 choices of tractors - Comments please -before I decide

What transmission comes on the M7040? I believe the Kioti requires clutching with every shift.

If transmissions are apples to apples, I would go with the Kioti (this is coming from a Kubota man)

Clutching on every shift isn't a problem for me in a farm tractor....if I were working a diary or concrete/sand yard, or any shuttle operation then yes I'd want at least a shuttle function with my geared tractor, but farming I seldom shift and when I do it's no big deal......but that works for me, others may not agree.

I will admit that I am biased as well. I think the world of the modern MF's. I had a 4609 with an FEL. I loved the F/R shuttle for loader work. The FEL had amazing strength and quickness. The weight distribution was right on as well as I had no problems dumping a bucket of field rock up and into a pile. The tractor had power to burn, I pulled a 5-14 moldboard with ease with it. In 2 wheel drive actually. Fuel consumption, I burned just under 1.5 gallons per hour plowing. Impressed with the Isaki 3 cylinder. I have a 14' tandem disc that I pulled with it but I needed the 4x4 engaged to handle that. It would spin out w/o it engaged quite easily in the loose soil. A nice platform with a nice view. I had only one complaint and that was I think MF should paint the steps red instead of black. In a plowed field it is quite easy to misstep on the black. I traded my 4609 in on a 4610 b/c I wanted a cab model instead since the weather here in N. MN isn't always so pleasant to be sitting outside plowing in Oct or Apr. No regrets on either the 4609 or 4610. I looked at the 70-90 HP Kubota's when I bought my 4609 and I ultimately decided that I liked the feel of the MF and that they seemed like a heavier more well built tractor. Built to last imo.
