I was thinking of getting a Dozer Blade. What price can I expect for one?

How well do they work? Do you need weights? I was considering getting one for pushing snow and moving my pile of clippings I use for compost. I didn't want to get one if it was going to ride up a lot or be flimsy. Thanks

I have a 2518 and plow a 500 foot driveway. I filled the rear wheels with windsheild fluid for weight instead of wheel weights. You will also need tire chains. I also have a snowblower but I can do driveway quicker with plow.

I think a blade would be a better than a snow blower at least for me. I have a very long drive. I don't think we have ever had enough deep snow here to justify the purchase of a snow blower. I would get more use with the blade.
I have the Ag tires so are chains necessary? I know the wheel weight would be needed but not sure about chains with the ag tires?

I live in northeastern Ohio and I have a lot of experience with removing lake effect snow from my 20'x80' stone driveway. I use ags on the rear with chains on my GT. When the snow becomes hard packed and icy on your drive the chains will help out a lot.

I've used plows on a 149 and an 1862, the plow does a great job.
I've spread topsoil with a blade and it worked great.

I prefer a blower for my cement drive, in a bad storm, the snow doesn't build up because I can throw it 25 feet or so.

I use weights and chains with both.

I've never had Ags on a Cub, I suspect the chains give more bite on packed snow.

The Ag tires do very well. I had them put on when I had my 2518 serviced this past winter. They really dig in. I am sure chains will give added traction. Having a blade would be best for me as my driveway is long.
I think I would get more use from the plow anyway because It would help smooth out the ruts from all this rain we have had here in Ohio.
Thanks for your in put :)

I was going to keep my Ariens snowthrower for the deep lake effect and use the plow for the 6" and less. I could do it faster with the plow. I also tend to get covered in snow regardless of how much we get as the wind around here is fierce. Plowing would keep it down and I'd be out in the elements less.

I will have to stop by my dealer and see what kind of deal or maybe used he might have.
