Most US tractors, newer, has no beacon or mirrors(non cab). I have an older tractor that I got used, with no lights, no ROPS, wires hanging down. But it has all new tires.

For me. it would be mostly about being able to avoid the Tier lV crap.
In less than ten years, Tier lV is very likely to be a major negative for selling or trading a used tractor.
I am thinking your right. Most DPF Tier4 emmission systems, are designed to last 2000 to 2500 hrs before costly replacement. So I can see alot of current tractors will be sold or traded, just before critical replacement occurs. And the replacement cost for a DOC/DPF emmissions package can exceed $3000 dollars for some brands. It could get ugly.

Cleaning the DPF costs 3-400. A replacement L4760 DPF is $1200 new, $900 reman from Kubota.

I realize that this is a religious issue for a lot of guys but it's not nearly as bad as people say. There were a lot of tales of doom about car emissions gear in the '80s and '90s but it all just works now and we don't even think about it.

Yep, new technology always has a learning curve.... Just to bad the customer 'us' tend to be guinea pigs are part of the research of improvement. I still think all of us compact or any tractor size owner/operators put out very small fraction of so called 'pollution' compared to the large cities, Which most of the pollution comes from anyhow.
I say, work on the pollution in the big cities and leave my tractors out of it:p

The tractor anti pollution equipment is forced on us by the Greenies, who have no clue!
Of course there is air pollution, but it is WORLDWIDE air pollution, from varied sources.
Chocking down tractors in the USA, to significantly reduce worldwide pollution, is a complete fallacy.

My new Massey Ferg has Tier V. I've been running it for 6-7 months and haven't had to do anything out of the ordinary. It's actually been nice to not smell like diesel exhaust when I'm done working.

I remember reading somewhere maybe even this thread that someone can see the return of the gas tractor....

Very plausible. They got that gas EPA emissions crap up to high mileage and Purdy darn dependable. Ya know, nothing 40+ years improvements can and have done.

Its just diesel's turn. Now in 40 more years........ wow never mind.
