When the trimmer is cold, it runs great. After about a half hour it loses power. I have cleaned and adjusted the carb, replaced spark plug, and replaced the electronic coil. I can let it cool for a few minutes and it will work again. I was trimming some real heavy weeds and the trimmer got hot and quit running. It hasn't worked the same since. The motor is a 5 hp. briggs. I welcome any and all advice. Thanks

Inside the muffler area does it have a metal screen which is the last exit for the exhaust..it maybe plug.

Does the air filter need cleaning or replacing.

Jbrewer,

I had a similar problem with a Briggs motor.
It would run for about 15-20 minutes then quit.
This was a brand new motor so all the filters were
good. Turns out that the gas cap was defective.
I did not know that there was a breather hole in it.
Mine did not work properly. The motor wasn't getting any fuel
because a vacuum was created in the gas tank. If I
let it set for a few minutes, the vacuum broke
and things were right again. Might not be the same
with yours but it’s something else to check.
Cautiously, try running the motor with the gas cap slightly loose.
