Draft Control Operating Properly??

I have a Kubota M4900 that I bought back in February that I really like and have had 0 problems out of (I think).

I use it mostly for mowing and very seldom have the need to use the draft control. The other day I was plowing under the remnants of my garden and decided to use the draft control for the first time.

My other tractors, most recently a Massey Ferguson 231S operated this way:

1) With the draft control lever down, you could use the position control lever to raise and lower the 3ph as desired.

2) With the position control lever down, you could use the draft control lever to raise and lower the 3ph as desired also.

3) If either lever was in the up position, the 3ph would not go down, regardless of the position of the other lever.

The Kubota operates as follows:

1) Like the Massey, with the draft control lever down the position control lever makes the 3ph go up or down as desired.

2) However, when you leave the postion control lever in the down postion the draft control seems to do nothing. The 3ph stays down no matter what position the draft control lever is in.

The dealer tells me that is normal. He said that you are supposed to use the position control lever to lower the implement into the ground and then adjust the draft control lever up and down to determine how deep the implement operates. This just doesn't seem right to me because once you lower the position control the draft control appears to be doing absolutely nothing, but it might be.

Does anyone know if this is right?

While I haven't tried using the draft control to raise or lower an implement, I use it with my boxblade. I raise/lower the blade with the posistion control, then set the draft up to keep the boxblade from digging down to deep. When the blade starts to go down to low, the draft pulls the blade up, then lets it down until it starts to go to deep again.

That sounds like the way my Kubota is supposed to work. Maybe some of the <font color=orange>orange</font color=orange> guys can verify it for me too.
