drain plug washers

my tractor has 2 sizes of drain plugs. 12mm and 16mm. The factory seals are rubber/metal. dealer prices are nuts. I looked for Dorman equivalents but at the time I could only find fiber ones. What the heck I put them in. Now I worry. The engine will get changed again next fall, I since found Dorman 12mm rubber/metal.
The 16mm I only found copper. Should have used that. Transmission with 16mm plugs , Will see how fiber stands up for 300 hrs , be a while unless it starts leaking.
Anybody use fiber washers?

Just keep an eye on them you should be fine , You could always change them pull the plug and put your finger over the hole and with the other hands clean the plug install the new gasket washer....

As a rule I don't replace drain plug washers every time I change oil. Once they get mangled to the point where they leak a few drips...then they get replaced. I usually have the main ones I use in stock. Like if I go and put all the effort into finding a supply I buy more than one so that the next time I need a washer I have it.

Copper washers work just as well as the rubber washers. The fiber washers you used will be ok also.

Always copper and always annealed between uses.

For 30+ years I've used copper or aluminum, changed at every fluid change.

Check with your local hydraulic shop, I was getting a hose made recently and found they had all different sizes of high pressure seals made exactly like the metal/rubber drain gaskets. Cost was about $.80 as best as I remember.

I was stuck once when changing out my oil.
I made some 'crush washers' from HD poly sheet that I had on hand.
Worked out just fine and never leaked at all.
Fact is oil never gets all that hot otherwise I'd of had a leakage.

LOL, I now have a KIT of crush washers that I purchased on line.
