OK, so I was about to remove my drag/draw bar with its welded plate on my YM1500 2WD....then...
I loosened the 8 bolts on the under side to remove the mounting plate so I could weld a more custom (one that works better for me at least) draw bar. Then I started to get a bit of a leak of what sure looked like tranny fluid to me! Call me stupid (then again just help me!) but I would have thought this was removable without opening the underside of the rear-end. It was no big deal...I just retightened and the leak is done. If I need to I can always totally remove it then reseal it.
But it seemed strange that the structural mounting for the draw bar was also a bottom access plate of some sort to the rear end. On my tractor there is a plate about 6x10" and 5/8" thick. This plate bolts under the rear end. The draw bar is welded to this plate. If have attached a pic to try to make my question clearer.
Is there a large hole under this plate to allow access/inspection to the rearend? Or do just the mounting bolt holes go into the rear-end. I know I could answer my own question by removing it...but I'd figure I'd ask the pros first and learn something.
Thanks for the help
Peter
