OK, so I was about to remove my drag/draw bar with its welded plate on my YM1500 2WD....then...

I loosened the 8 bolts on the under side to remove the mounting plate so I could weld a more custom (one that works better for me at least) draw bar. Then I started to get a bit of a leak of what sure looked like tranny fluid to me! Call me stupid (then again just help me!) but I would have thought this was removable without opening the underside of the rear-end. It was no big deal...I just retightened and the leak is done. If I need to I can always totally remove it then reseal it.

But it seemed strange that the structural mounting for the draw bar was also a bottom access plate of some sort to the rear end. On my tractor there is a plate about 6x10" and 5/8" thick. This plate bolts under the rear end. The draw bar is welded to this plate. If have attached a pic to try to make my question clearer.

Is there a large hole under this plate to allow access/inspection to the rearend? Or do just the mounting bolt holes go into the rear-end. I know I could answer my own question by removing it...but I'd figure I'd ask the pros first and learn something.

Thanks for the help
Peter

I don't know the answer, but isn't the fluid going to fall out in either case if you remove the plate?

There is a hole large enough to get your hand in to remove the bolt that holds the bull gear on the end of the axle.

Thanks for the info, Danny. And thanks for sending me the parts in the mail (filters, exhaust gaskets, hood rubber trim). Your "check is in the mail" for payment back to you...really it is!
