Draw bar with pintle hitch for batwing?

Couldn't you just use a heavy clevis. And perhaps bolt it to the drawbar using some washers to pick up the free play between the clevis and drawbar.

What does the attachment point on the batwing look like? Is it a ring or an articulating type that at straight pin fits through?

Someone makes therm... Here's the patent for one.

Come to think of it, years ago our highway batwing mowers had pintle hitches on them. Factory made... And they were the swivel type, in case of roll over, the mower would not take you with it... Possibly the pintle hitch came with the mower. So maybe contact the mower mfg., or dealer, and see if they have them..??

Yes, but I'd still need a ball/pintle combo bolted to it. The ball/pintle I have has a 4 nolt backing plate. Might be able to weld my drawbar to the back of it and strengthen it with gussets?
The "hammerstrap" linked to above, bolts to your existing flat drawbar (as seen in the section labeled "HEAVY-DUTY DRAWBAR" at: New Kubota M95S / M105S ROPS Utility Tractor at Novlan Brothers )
Then the lunette ring goes through that and is held in by the hitch pin.

You are correct. The pics of the jd earlier show a hammerstrap. Call kubota and they may have one. You could fabricate you own. Many drawbars will have 2 holes in them to bolt on the hammerstrap.

I am a firm believer in :"Keeping Simple Things Simple". The draw bar on your tractor is strong enough to hold up and pull anything it is capable of pulling.

If you have the shank, bolt plate and hitch, drill 2 holes and bolt it on. Chances are holes are 1/2", (9/16" possible). Only thing you need to "Buy" are to bolts, 2 "Lock Nuts" and some washers.

No welding, nothing to reinforce or anything else needed.

That first link I posted to ebay was someone selling them for Kubota. There's several styles or sale.

Crazyal,

I think that will work if it's built heavy enough. Tongue weight is 1,900lbs. Mower weight is 5,200lbs.
I would rather have a ball/pintle combo, but that's a great start.

Aaron,

I'm headed over to parts today. I think that'll do it. Would like to have ball pintle combo in the future. I'm not sure what that Kubota hammerstrap hitch is rated for.

Might try that! I didn't think 2 1/2" bolts would be strong enough.

Look at one of my early pictures. 4, - 1/2" Bolts hold the hitch to the shank. Maybe grade 5 or above. The single pin that holds it in the receiver is only 5/8" and it was to pull a dump trailer with around 6 yards of soil in it.

Be nice to use bolts that match the hole size in your draw bar.

1900 Pounds of tongue weight does not sound right to me. Sure be nice to see a picture of this thing.
