Wow, that IS great! Last couple of auctions I went to (aviation stuff), there was one auctioneer and at least 100 bidders. If the item could be recognized it got bid up to higher than new prices. I need lessons on buying, my whole life it's been buy high, sell low. When I was a cop in Oakland, I had the bright idea of buying up drugs on the street and flying them down to sell in Mexico. Not much risk of getting caught, no one would suspect that and not much competition either. bumper

...and how'd that work out for you? :D

Congrat's on your great buys! Just curious, but what do you plan to use the .05" thick copper sheeting for?

I'm planning to use it for fence post caps. Also for as a weather-cover for a roll-up privacy screen I installed near the hot tub. Also as flashing for a tool shed lean-to on the back side of the barn and a few other projects around the property. Neighbor wants to buy a sheet for these bird houses he builds as gifts. I will probably never use all of it, but it all came on a pallet for $20. How could I turn it down? It's worth more for scrap.

I did miss one very good deal. Another guy picked up a real nice Milwaukee Electro-Magnetic base drill press - the type you can attach to any steel or cast iron structure and drill. Looked brand new. $100 - I had too much coffee - had to use the facilities and missed it.

Sounds like a great deal. I saw one mag base drills for sale at a yard sale. The price was $550. I think that is what they are new, and this one was beat up. I didn't buy.

They go for a lot more than $500. Model 4208 - they go for around $1500 new.

I lost so much money I swore off buying anything forever. But after this thread, I'll be frantically searching for good auctions! Dang!

I will stick to my formula for tool buying though: Want X Need = Buy

(Note that not much need, coupled with enough want, still equals buy.)

My tool buying formula is good deal x want. Need is never factored in.

How much is a good chainsaw? I have $900 in my 372 XP.

How do you like your saw? I have 372 XPG (heated grip) I bought slightly used for $700.
Mine has 30" bar. After 2 or 3 tanks of gas mix I need a rest.
