I think Rhodesian Ridgebacks belong to this category?

A couple of years ago we found one very pooped RR on our property...very, very near death. Long story short, now he is by one of our sides day and night. Best dog I have ever met in my entire life!

Oh, by the way, he runs in his dreams and is also terrified of storms. (insert wierd sort of psychic sounding music here)

My LW went to the vet to get him doggy Prozac. We're told he should be given one or two pills about an hour befor a bad thunderstorm. Who comes up with these brilliant ideas? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yeah, I didn't try to name all of the sighthound breeds. Along with the RR's, Pharoah Hounds, Chart Polski's, Scottish Deerhounds are some more, and over on CountryByNet I learned about a Japanese sighthound I'd never heard of before..

There is an AKC competition open only to sighthounds. It's how they achieve their field championship; it's called "lure coursing". On a five acre tract, they run nylon cords and pulleys close to the ground and make the cable course take turns every few hundred feet. They move the cable using an old Ford starter motor, and they tie some plastic trash bags to the cable for the sighthounds to chase. The dogs go bananas over this, chasing the plastic "bunnies". The operator keeps the bunnies just out of their reach until the end, and he jerks the bunnies around the course.

The slide and the roll this is the answer, it wasn't luck, no it was your technique here that caused that child to turn out so well. The dog was just being a good friend and helping out when the time was right. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Don't like pit bulls, never have never will. Even before they got their bad rep, they scare me just to look at them. I know a lot of people swear by them but me, I just usually swear about them.

don't generally fault pit bulls but I actively dislike "most" pitbulls owners.
just had an incidient in the area several weeks ago wherein 2 pitbulls mauled a pregnant 17 yr old miniature horse to death in it's stall ... I had nightmares myself for a week ...
the horse owner was made of sterner stuff than I, he had the local sheriff's guys come and haul the dogs and is proferring charges against the owners (dogs had previously been implicated in a sheep death and some chicken slaughters ... never "proven" though) .... if it had been my animals ... there would've been 2 dead dogs and I would've been knowcking on the owners door with the gun barrel ...
(still angry ... can you tell?)

wow guys! there are some major pit bull haters around here. i know they have a bad rap, but so have many other breeds in recent history. i myself didnt really want one....i got her for my girlfriend since she wanted one in the worst way. i can tell you she has been one of the best dogs i have ever had. i can also tell you that i dont put her in a situation that would be bad for her or anyone else. no dog parks, no walking off leash, no un-dog trained children near any of my dogs. now we lucked out that we rescued this puppy that spent the first 4 months of life on a farm so she is not amimal aggressive, which was breed into the breed. it makes scense that some pit killed a horse....the were made for bull baiting!

i dont condone dog fighting in anyway! as far as one of these dogs attacking a preg. girl i can almost assuredly tell you that that particular animal was probably treated inhumanly. i say this because human aggression was bread out of the breed for hundreds of years.

so please dont hold anything against my puppy cause she is a pit bull. if you dont like me....that okay but have it for a good reason....not because i am a responsible dog owner or i have a pit bull.
