I have crush and run coming in tomarrow morning for my driveway. I have been working on it with my blade trying to fix the problem. I think I have come up with a good solution. As you can see somewhat in the pictures I have ran a ditch down the side of my driveway all the way into the woods. I am going to put rock that is about 2 - 2 1/2 inches big in the ditch and crush and run on the driveway. I think this will work good. Look at the pictures and compare them to the others and tell me what you think.

Thanks

The pictures are taken too close up for me to get a good idea of the way the land slopes on either side.
At my place just removing all the trees from the house site has added a lot to the run off. My worst place is on an off camber curve where the water runs over the drive. There is a lot of shale under a shallow layer of clay so ditching isn't the answer, I had to turn the water out before it got there.
Your ditches look like they'd do a good job of keeping it off the drive, but I still can't tell if the middle of the drive is lower than the edges.

It is put I am going to build the center up and grade it to a slant on each side so the water will run to the side. Than the ditches will carry it off. It was hard for me to get a big picture of the whole thing and than have it under 100000 bytes. Gravel is suppose to be coming this morning so I will see what I get and give some more pictures.

What you're doing sounds reasonable. Do whatever you can to get some compaction into the gravel. I douby if running over it with you wheels will be enough. You may want to rent a roller.

Increasing compaction lkeepe the water out of the gravel, and makes it more resistant to erosion.

Everything you ever wanted to know about private gravel roads.

Maine camproads (pdf)

You may want to consider some geo textile material under the gravel - do a search here on tbn it has been discussed before

Good luck & enjoy the seat time
