So did you only use the single 12.5' wide strip of fabric? And then center the driveway over that?

Thanks for the info 450. I'm going to check the prices around here for that stuff. I had no idea what it was called now you gave me some insight. Gravel on mud and clay doesn't really last long before you need more and more so I think it is worth the initial cost of the stuff before getting more gravel...

Nice work 450. It sure is a funky winter to be sure. I was hoping to test the ck on the white stuff, but have been dealing with mud more than anything. I'm looking to redo my drive this year, so you've given me some inspiration.

Yes Highbeam, Just 12.5 wide. I added dirt at the sides to hold the gravel in so I got a full 12'. It should be good for a single lane drive. Cut triangles for the corners and overlapped about 1'.

By the way, Still made time to go out and play. Nomally I'm riding a 600 two stroke twin this time of year but the sled stays in the barn so far. Pretty greasy, the guys on 4 wheelers can almost keep up with the bikes.

John, I'm told if you dig down to a solid base you can skip the fabric but then you have to raise it back up with base fill. Just think of it as saving time and money.

No snow in the mountains either Willie ? Maybe all of Dec and Jan snow will dump at once and you can do a super test.

Johnk, you might want to check with a company called A. H. Harris & Son's. There's one located in Rochester and Orchard Park, I don't know if those are close to you. They carry a bunch of different brands of geotextile fabrics.
You can give them a call and tell them what you have and they can match a product for your application. They supply a lot of contractors here in MA with materials.

This should be the link: home

Then click on the geosynthetics. Give them a call, I don't know how there prices compare to 450EXC's though. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Orchard park is three miles from me...

This may seem strange, but the A.H. Harris website didn't list the Orchard Park location but I can't remember where I found it. I did look it up in the Yellow pages: 3605 California Rd, Orchard Park (716) 667-6390. Hope that helps, it could also be an old listing in which case Rochester is probably the closest location in western NY.

I just gave the # a call to see if they had an answering machine but it blew my ear out with a Fax Tone. I'll have to take a ride by there when I get a chance. Thanks again..

Well I just checked yellowbook.com and they list the phone number as (716) 667-3355. I don't know why 2 different web sites have different numbers and why Harris's own website doesn't even list Orchard Park? Let me know how you make out and good luck. Just rememer if you call this number to keep the phone a little away from your ear just in case.
