I kind of get that. You have to pull over but no one said if you can't proceed, you have to do something unlawful. Stupid cop! He "should" have educated (not punished) you and realized your predicament. And trying to be a good citizen. Good grief, and they wonder why they are do despised.

I once was stopped at a red light and from behind an ambulance honks, yelps with siren wailing so I do the proper thing but have to run the red light in order to comply.
A LEO was around the corner and I got ticketed for running that red.
Cost me $$'s and demerit points.

Hope you are not in the next ambulance that's behind me.

And, no, I did not contest as as
- law enforcement sticks together
- laws state that it is mandatory to stop at reds, and no exceptions (but tolerated for LEO's and emergency vehicles) (should add bicycles)

I've attended court sessions enough to know the routines.
Judge asks 'did U or did U not?,, I did , but with explanation'.
Judge reply's, 'you admitted guilt in court, your fine is---'

You've said that before and it's a tough call. I just did a little reading and apparently on this side of the border at least, there are no provisions for what you did.
Here's another EV question... when there's an ambulance coming from the other direction and he has a clear lane do you pull over and stop?

We have a big problem in this province with unscrupulous tow operators. Major rip off artists! CBC, market place has done segments on it. Maybe they don't know what they are talking about either.

I believe there are areas that suffer with that problem.

You Sir, indicated that all were that way and they were closing your freeway for no reason other than to gouge the cost. That's simply naive. My Son's company would enjoy talking to you about that.

You would be the first to sue them for damages if you ran over a piece of debris on the highway that caused damage to your vehicle. So,,,, they have no choice but close the freeway until it's clear.

You would also be the driver that zoomed by them within a few feet while they were working the wreck if the freeway was left open.

They've had two wreckers totaled by drivers like that in the last 4 years. :confused3:

They are trying to crack down on those bozos. I notice a lot more people obeying the pull over or slow down law in the past few years.

I had an experience which made me feel like a jerk a few years ago... I was coming home after visiting my parents, I believe that it was the weekend of my brother's funeral.

194 miles into the 200 mile trip I came across an accident scene; the wrecker was leaving, the ambulance was long gone and there were several volunteer fire fighters standing around taking pictures with their phones. Nobody was directing traffic so I pulled up to the nearest volunteer and asked if I could go through. He let me know on no uncertain terms that I could wait!
It turns out that a car had left the icy road and rolled over into a stream. The two adults made it out but there was a child in a car seat trapped in the back seat. A passing motorist stopped, ran down and cut the seat belt holding the car seat, which then floated to the top of the water. He then performed CPR on the kid and saved it's life... that's what I came in on the tail end of.
I still think they could have had somebody directing traffic though, or in some way indicating that we should stop.

I never implied tow truck operators were to blame in the highway closures. Police and Fire mostly. Police conducting lengthy "investigations" but not in any hurry, while people are just trying to get to work or get home. What's the point? It never leads to anything productive. Just make work for them.

Pulling over SHOULD apply to tow operators too. It's a deadly job, I realize that. They may be maggots but they are a living thng too. lol

See, you just can't help yourself. Again, you called tow operators maggots. My Son's crew would really like to visit with you. I'd like to watch.

Are they criminals who engage in violence or intimidation. That would almost make my argument. For that's part of the probblem with "our" tow industry.

AND I repeat, that was the term coined by a friend, tow truck operator. Probably meaning how they feed off others misfortune.
