This another Spring picture taken in front of our campground near one of those gulleys. You can see my kids playing in the field.

And this is the same gully (to the right in this picture) later in the Summer. I had already mowed it the previous week.

The contrast is beautiful. In the Spring the Oaks still are bare but all the grass and flowers are up and green. then in the Summer, the grass and flowers are all dead and the Oaks are in full leaves.

Holy C...p Batman!

That is really pretty land. Can anyone build on that ridge in the background?

We found some land that we really wanted. If you flip you hand over your three middle fingers are the three ridge that ran togather ending in a little valley. On the other side of the valley, your wrist in this case was another tall ridge. In your palm was an old farm pond. The land comprised the pond, as well as the three ridges. A house on the "middle" finger over looking the pond the the far ridge was really pretty....

Alas the land was just to far from work....

Later,
Dan

I drive about 300 miles each way. It's 120 acres of oaks and pines at about 3000 ft. elevation. I'm in the process of building on top of a hill right in the middle of the ranch. It's about a 1/4 mile each direction from the property line. Here's a picture of my land.

Here's another picture... digging the trenches for the septic system. My terrain is very similar to 3rrl's. The oaks and pines are green in the summer. Everything else is brown and dry.

Yeah Dan,
We just love the property. We had a choice of several 30 acre lots to choose from and this one (27 acres) was by far the most scenic. We are building on a ridge but not that one. This is a view of the meadow (through those trees) and rock outcropping where the home will go.

And this is a view from those once you get out there. Our home will have a wrap around covered deck that hangs over the rocks.

Tom,
Your land is very similar to mine except that I don't have any pine trees at all. Our elevation at the home site is only 1,580'. It is in the foothills.

Here's a couple of picture of some areas on the property.

Another view.

Greetings: I have a place in Northwest Wisconsin. 300 mile drive uphill both ways. Closest I have been in 20 years. California to Wis for deer hunting was tough. 210 acres with 35 acre lake, 60 tillable acres and cabin. Just closed it up until novemeber deer season. Need to work for a few months so I can hunt for nine days.

I presume you drove from California to Wisconsin to hunt? How long did THAT take? Do you have any pictures of your land and that lake to share?

Hey there! My wife and I drive 451 miles (almost 7 hours) to our little over 40 acres in SE Georgia near Lake Seminole. It has a small cedar cabin and a good sized pond with a dock and is stocked with about 3500 catfish. There are 6 natural springs or "seeps" on the property. Some of it's hilly, some flat, some wooded, and some tillable. My wife is a teacher so we get to spend most of our summers and several "long weekends" at the farm. We love it and are hoping to build a new home over looking the pond and making our present address in SW Florida our "temporary" home sometime in next couple years!
