I have the Mavic Air 2 in my sights. I believe it is one of the best available and features unmatched for the price, However, things are on hold at present. I just had to install a new hot water system and yesterday my microwave blew up for the 4th time, so, over $800 for hot water and another $500 for a microwave has seen my drone money diminish at a rapid rate.
Now, what can I sell?
A good thing about the Air2 is 4K 60 FPS.

So long as you don't go down the FIMI hole again....:D

LOL yeah, I don't want that ever again. Good news is that 15 minutes ago I received a email from the drone seller saying that he has refunded me the full amount for the drone.
It has taken a lot of emails, anxiety and angst to get there though. I reported him to FIMI Headquarters and they took a very strong interest in the proceedings and I had also begun proceedings against him through the Govt Office of Fair Trading.
Not sure what worked but something did. :)

Maybe you selected H.265 HD instead of H.264. You may need to update your player to accommodate H.265. I use Potplayer and upgraded that. It plays well. Also 4K requires a good computer to be able to play it back smoothly. Once again try upgrading your player for 4K

I had a programme that was 4K friendly but refused to process, cmputer is more than adequate so I went to the FAQ and discovered that 4K was an extra charge, I didn't buy it and I forget what the software was.

bunyip, I suggest the free program Potplayer. I use to use VLC (and still have it) but Potplayer does a lot better and is dead easy to upgrade for free. My old Win7 laptop would not play 4K or H.265 until I installed Potplayer. Not sure what you use but check it out. I made it my default player.
Can't remember if it works on a Mac because I don't use my Mac much. I leave that for my wife.
VLC upgraded also plays those files too.
It appears it is only for Windows systems. Download | PotPlayer

I'll bore you with zoom pics from the EVO II Pro. Guessing distance at 1000ft. Default camera settings. No filter. Early morning.

Beautiful. It looks like a digital zoom though, right?

Looks like some freeloader is over there sitting in front of your garage door, maybe send the dog out to bark at him. ;)

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Yep nice morning. That loafer hangs out there a lot for some reason.

What about pic quality? Any suggestions? How about ND filters? Worth the investment?

Oh, forgot to confirm, digital zoom. They look pretty good until the last one, then it's obvious they are digital.

Do you guys hand catch your Drones? I always did the X Star but it had "legs". To catch the EVO I've gotta grab the body and the rear props are dangerously close.....

   / Drone suggestion #351
No, definitely not. I have enough scars from props to not want any more. LOL You can buy landing pads from about $10 that look the part and stop the drone acting as a weed-eater.

The problem was the editing software, stated it can edit 4K but neglected to advise it was an extra, you discovered that when you tried to edit, I'm using windoze 10 and had the system built with editing in mind, I do have VLC and a few others but will look at potplayer.
I think the editing suite was one of the Corel progammes, I use their Paintshop Pro X series for my cameras as well as PS.

For photos I use Paint.NET for most of my editing but for serious stuff I have Photoshop. Paint.NET is free and an excellent program for resizing etc.

For video I use AVS Video Editor on PC (paid) and ISkysoft (now Wondershare) on the Mac.
There is a very good program called Videopad that has a free version too.

Yeah I made one for the X Star and then just got used to catching it. The E2 is extremely stable when hovering but I just can't put my fingers within a couple inches of the rear props.....

What is the flag?
(the bottom one)
I use ND's and polarising, came as a kit with 4,8,16 and 32.
Also, I just lost a battery on the mavic, had 3 lights then the drone sent an error message and only two middle lights on for a while, light went red on charger, the others are fine, I was taking some aerial shots of the new place for the fenci ng contractor and needed a battery change when it happened.

It's a "Trump" flag.

I think I'll get a set of ND filters and try them.

Twice my X Star critically landed away from me. Once in a corn field where the combine was running. He missed it by two rows...... I tried all of the suggestions to improve the batteries but nothing seemed to help. I'm down to one reliable battery and can't get new ones anymore. That's why I bought the E2.

We use the footage with all kinds of software, so we shoot as raw as possible, and then dress it up if needed.

Our Phantom has big legs so it's easier to hand catch. We do it about 50% of the time.

I went the landing pad route. Caught it a couple times and thought at some point it is going to bite me so I stopped that dangerous practice before I got complacent.

Yes, nice pics Richard. I sort of wish I opted for the Mavic Zoom instead of the Pro.
