Just a thought for those of you posting drone photos of your homes: beware as bad guys can pretty easily identify your address.

A few years ago a TBN member in a discussion about gold investments posted a photo of his home on the coast. He had shown photos of his home gold stash too. He also had made references to his job. He felt there was no problem as he hadn't given much detail. I sent him a PM after taking 15 minutes with Google and Google Earth to identify his exact address. A few unique features in a photograph and a couple of seemingly innocuous identifying facts can allow a cyber crook (or TBN visitor) to pinpoint your home. Just saying....

If you can find my house based on the pics I posted (there should be no GPS location information on them), then stop by my house and I'll buy you a beer. :)

PS: I don't have any gold stash in my house, and I work from home, so I'm almost always here, and I do have weapons for hunting as well as personal protection. :)
PPS: Yes, it is stupid to show pictures of your gold stash to anyone. Period.

Maybe we should all remove our locations. That way neither crooks nor people who think we are dolts can possibly find us.....

Frankly not a bad idea but at least be aware that someone can come along three years from now and use photos/videos to pinpoint your home. I identified the OP's exact address in about ten minutes this morning. The digits in his address add up to 24.

Someone who lives in Dorchester and posts a video of the Boston skyline taken from a drone above his abode would give up his address just through trigonometry and recognizable landmarks. I don't mean to be making a big deal of this but folks should be aware of how easy it is to pinpoint the location that a photo is taken these days. I'm not aware of any criminal enterprise taking advantage (yet). Caveat drone photographers

Incredibly naive to think the only way someone can identify exactly who you are and where you live is imagery. Visiting most websites is enough - if they care.

Did some flying at lunch. The gimbal overload message occurred because while I'd removed the plastic bracket on the gimbal, there was also some shipping foam. Also the images look a lot better once you remove the plastic film that covers the lense.

Really, really impressive device.

I was just going to tell you there is a second piece of foam. Did you get your camera/battery firmware upgraded yet? You need to download a firmware .bin file onto your microSD card from your computer and then plug the card into your camera. This will update the camera and battery. I recommend watching this video to explain. There are a few things to watch out for and perform. I watched several after struggling a bit and this one was the best tutorial.

Day two... got brave and flew off my deck to film my backyard. Launched off the table on our deck. Didn't get all of it as I am taking baby steps. Here is my first 'snapshot'. It was a bit windy and lucky for me a downpour started just after landing. Biggest lesson of the day... I tried out the 'return to home' feature for when you loose sight or panic. It did bring it home but the landing was about 6ft off and luckily it didn't descend and hit the railing or roof! It descended just off the deck and landed 10ft below me, flawlessly. Next time I use the RTH feature I will deactivate it sooner and take control of the landing which is easy. I did try to deactivate it but it took a few seconds to gain control and it was too late.

Garandman... PM me and I will give you some more tips to help you with pre flight, firmware upgrades, etc. if you want.
