Ford recently held a "test drive event" for the all new f-150 and the opportunity to test drive the new 2.7. I'm pretty sure the 2.7 was the only one there to drive, I could be wrong though. I do know I've seen the advertisements for it lately and it was done in select cities. I think the closest one near me was about 3 hors away so he got lucky he was able to go and drive it.

They had all 3 motors there to drive but we all chose the 2.7 since 3 of us 4 have driven the 3.5 Ecoboost and 5.0 V8.

We could have driven all 3 if we wanted.

They did say all the test trucks were "pre production" and would be destroyed in a few weeks.

Not to spoil your Infomercial but I sure would not be bragging about 17 mpg!!
My 04 Silverado X-Cab gets 17-20 mpg ACTUAL MILEAGE! But the computer (calculator) is hand held.

These trucks were driven like they were stolen and idled all day long by probably 100 different drivers a day. My 3.5 Ecoboost gets 18.3 mpg since new, 46,000 miles now. It will do low 20's on the highway.

My guess is this 2.7 will be 25 around town and 28 highway.

It looks like the 2015 F150 SuperCrew 4WD has a 23 gal gas tank, down from 36 gal in 2014 models. I like the 36 gal tank in my 2012. Wonder why they decided to cut the size by 1/3.

It's too bad for Ford though, you can buy a Ram diesel with 140 lb-ft torque per liter, vs the 120 lb-ft per liter of this gasser, plus the Ram is less money

As gas mileage increases gas tank size decreases. Hauling around a load of gas takes gas and space is becoming important. I have 4 vehicles, with tanks from 10 gallons to 23 gallons and they all get a little over 400 miles per tank. Seems to be a standard. (The 2014 was probably oversized :))

Thanks KennyG that's a good point. I bet it does have to do with reducing weight and improving mileage.

Very well. Chris

Cool. I read somewhere they made it 70% stronger and yet made it lighter. I'm gonna drive one of these eventually, curiosity will get the best of me.

Too bad the Ram is gutless in the mid range. It also has a pathetic payload when compared to the competition.

Ram missed the mark with the diesel. Nissan will be the 1st one to get it right in 2015 with the Cummins 5.0
