Drying out crawlspace with fan...

I would draw the air out with the fan, and let it bring fresh, dry air in from the outside through the other vents. To me, it is easier to pull a slight vacuum (decreased pressure) in the crawl space pulling air out, than it is trying to push air in.

As Dan said, the dry air (low Relative humidity) now in IL (at least daytime air) should dry things out pretty fast. Maybe shut it down on cool nights when the RH is higher. Adding heat to the area probably will drop the RH faster than anything, thus causing more/faster drying.

KB9-- Afternoon, To be on the safe side, I would use the fan to exhaust the crawl space. The reason bein' If you blow the air into the crawl space, some of the moisture may enter the home through plumbing holes etc. because of positive pressure. It may not be an issue. Just a precaution.
Depending on the amount of water, Adequate drying could take months so mold doesn't grow. Good luck. Sorry about the leak. Dave

several years ago, i picked up a fan that had been taken out of a hvac system: mounted it on a piece of plywood, that would just fit in the crawl space door: i set it in, an sucked the air out of the crawl space, with the vents open only on the opposite end of the house: it seemed to work pretty well...
