DSL is here - YEA!

My speed test shows 2.81 download on veizon wireless embedded card. Great for my area when before town got fiber it was 3 meg or under.

OK, so this thread is over 6 months old, but this morning, CenturyLink upgraded my DSL to the 10M speed. Whooo boy, it's quick.

Jealous I am.

We have CenturyLink but can only get 1.5M service. A mile to the west of us, away from the central office, they have faster service. The service runs down the road in front of us but they did not bring the service down our road.

Dan, I was under the impression that fiber optic was necessary to get the 10M DSL so I had some doubts when the lady Monday told me she could upgrade it to 10M. The technician just changed some wires in the box on the side of the house, then came in and found we still had 1.5M (actually 1.42 download), so he got his laptop out the truck, hooked it to my less than a month old modem (their modem, of course) and said there was the problem. He brought a new modem in from the truck and that fixed it.

The last time the tech was at the house, he told us about the service being on the next road west of us, and NOT available for our neighborhood. I think we need a box to send the service down our wire and I sure wish they would put in the danged box. :laughing:

I have long been accustomed to my Internet service being slow this time of evening presumably because of so many people on the Internet, but wow, it ain't slow tonight.
