DST.......What do you think?

When I was a kid it was great we could play outside till 9:00. Had to be in the house when the street light came on(there I go again showing my age with" Play outside" ). When I was working a normal shift it was ok as stated above.

DST SUCKS...!!!! [ I would tell you what I really think about it but it would be so censored that it would be unreadable... I figure it will be outlawed about two days before I die, just in time to let me know that all my beatching was not all in vain....but not too soon enough to end my lifetime of suffering...

I am a fan of DST.
I wake at 4:45 AM for work every day so to me I love having daylight till 10:00 PM during the peak of summer. No purpose of daylight at 4:00 AM. I see enough darkness through the winter. Keeping DST through the winter wouldn't be so great as it would still be dark at 9:00 AM.
Advantages vs disadvantages? Changing a few clocks, . . not a big deal.
Go to bed 1 hour earlier one night in the spring and stay up one hour later one night in the fall. Done.

What I dislike about DST here, is that the kids were just starting to get to wait for the school busses in the light, when they throw them back into darkness until the end of the school year.

As for gyros! We have a local restaurant that has a gyro platter. Comes with a pound of fries and a drink. There's way too much meat, so we order an extra pita bread and split it, and there's still some left. That's a great value, any time of day! :laughing:

They are very good. Usually lamb meat here. With some onions, tomatoes, and cucumber sauce, wrapped in a pita. Tasty.

I think that DST was an item that may have worked well during WWll and it should have been left there.

I love DST. I wish we had DST and "double DST". When the clocks roll back in the fall, a little bit of me dies, I HATE it when it gets dark at 5PM, it's so despressing because I love to be outside and working a 9-5, basically means that when it's light out, I'm at work (in the winter). I'd happily go in a few hours early (in the pitch black) to have it light to 8PM in the winter.

In the late 60's, Indiana was, in effect, forced into double-daylight savings time. We were already 45 sun minutes behind standard time when the US government imposed DST on us. We were then 1 hour and 45 minutes ahead of the sun. In effect, double-daylight savings time. As kids in summer, we were now playing in twilight at 10:30 at night! It was, and still is, ridiculous.

There's an old joke that goes like this... when told of daylight savings time, the native American replied "Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket."
