What do you guys think of daylight savings time? I like it and wish they would just stay on it year around. I don't like having to adjust all the clocks.....timers etc......

Americans are fine with Daylight Saving Time

I couldn't care less really, one way or the other. Just pick one and leave it alone!

And, Steve, the video is really funny!

We live on the very western edge of the eastern time zone. At peak DST, the sun doesn't set until nearly 10pm. If you go outside at noon, and look straight south, the suns is still way off over to your left. It doesn't hit the high straight south until bout 1:50 in the afternoon. On the plus side, you can mow your lawn at 9pm without headlights.

There is no need today for daylight savings time which started way back during WWI.
I would prefer to stay on standard time year round.

Times have changed. No need keep on changing times. :confused3:

We live near the Pacific Ocean....we can see the bay from our deck. Same thing here.......in Summer......still light at 10pm. Hottest part of day is around 5pm. I have actually mowed my yard at 1000pm. I like DST but wish we would just on one time.....no switching.

We used to NOT observe DST here in most of Indiana. We never changed our clocks. In summer, if you drive 5 miles north, you'd be in Michigan. They'd be an hour ahead of us in summer, and the same time as us in winter. 10 miles to the west of us starts the edge of the CST. They'd be on the same time as us in summer, but an hour behind us in winter. Drive 100 miles east to Ohio, and same thing as Michigan.

Plus, the TV would change. In summer, the news came on at 10pm, in winter 11pm.

So, its nice we're on at least some sort of predictable schedule now.

But HEY! Just last Sunday was the first time you could buy alcohol on a Sunday in Indiana since prohibition, so we're making progress!!!

One of my former colleagues, Hal, got his PhD at Purdue. I remember him telling me that he sometimes accompanied his major professor on trips to various meetings in the state. Prior to each trip, Hal's job was to call the Extension office in the county where a meeting was to be held and ask what time it was.:)

Spent a number of hours today changing clocks at the Hospital... not as intensive as it once was as more and more clocks self adjust... the older equipment must still be done manually which also includes phones, alarms, Sterilizers, etc...

It is faster to spring forward!!!

The change is a real pain in the butt. Tired of the endless clock changing. Should be left alone, one way or the other.
Should be able to "Set it and Forget it"!

Yep. There's 4 counties to our west, from here to Chicago, that are in the CST and stayed on Chicago time year round, as they do more business with Chicago. And there's some counties down in Southwest Indiana that are in the CST, too.

For that matter, my inlaws live about 5 miles southwest of us. They are in the EST, but depending on where you stand in their yard, and which cell tower you hit, your phone can pick a tower out of the CST and change your clock without you noticing. So I disabled auto time zone on most of the familys' phones just because of that. I had a friend that owned a house about 5 miles north of us. His back yard fence was the Indiana/Michigan state line. If he walked out his front door, his phone would be on EST. If he went out into his backyard, it would switch to CST.

People actually went and bought beer on Sunday, took selfies, and saved recipes to frame! The liquor stores just across the state line in Michigan were DEAD on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday liquor hours in Indiana are noon to 8pm. So you got 8 hours to get it on Sunday!

Still no cold beer any day of the week except in liqour stores. That's the next hurdle.
