My experience is that a ten foot mower of any kind would tax a 30ish pto machine. Certainly out of the question in any heavy stuff.

Doing any kind of heavy stuff, I almost always find it beneficial to go back the other way as some stuff just gets pushed over and you often get it best by going over it the other way. Of course, I'm a bit fussy.

Sorry no. I have been cutting all kinds of brush and grass on the farm since the early 70s with all kinds of equipment. So just giving my opinion. I don't believe much I see in the way of equipment videos. ALWAYS perfect conditions and a perfect outcome. If something is noisy as heck, there won't be audio of it, just narration and music. lol

My ten foot cusman mower has a 56 (engine) HP 4 cyl Kubota. Like I said, much depends on conditions. The last thing you want mowing is to be underpowered.

You don't have to be sorry. But he does a pretty good job of an honest review on this mower. He did kill the engine when he mowed over a tree with a 4" base. The mower itself is designed for compact and small utility tractor use. There are many larger batwings out there that need 100 hp to run well. This isn't one of them. That. is. the. point. I think you'd be surprised on how effective it mows on what he tells you in the video is his (actual measured) 27 pto hp.

Since the OP is limited to a 30 pto hp unit, I thought he should at least take a look at this mower.

Just as a reference point, I've been running a 20' batwing Frontier with my now traded 5310, 55HP tractor for close to 10 years.

I tried to watch it. Had to endure an Ad for a Parka from Hudsons Bay first, and then the video with family history and about the property. Just shut it off.



I cut a few unwanted fields once a year (in the fall when the vegetation had dried out) with this (finishing mower) and a 70 PTO hp Deere. Had to replace the wheel frames to get the mower a little higher than for turf. 70hp was maybe a litle overkill but a guy with a 50 something hp wanted to buy it, we tried it and to my surprise it was s total failure. Worked fine in light grass, and bogged down in something just a bit higher. Guy wanted to cut his horse pasture periodically. I don't even remember if the flex wing was 14 or 16 feet.

When TTWT typically runs that wing mower it is on the 5075E tractor. Just to set this to accurate comparison Deere claims this to be a 60+ PTO hp. Op states a 33 PTO hp tractor.

Yes TTWT has connected that wing mower to his 2 series JD tractor. He also tells you it works but is under powered. Perhaps a review of his video is in order. Typically he is using the 5 series JD (60+ PTO hp) with that mower.
