Every time I see pics of your auger set up I'm tempted to go out and convert my backhoe to do the same thing!!!! That's just the best idea ever.
Thanks Eddie. I was wanting to put the same hookup on my excavator, but did not want to change fluids out each time I changed machines. I have found it is way easier to change auger sizes on the backhoe. Just slide the auger down on the concrete. Rotate the auger until the bolt hole is vertical and line it up. Easy Peasy.

Not something i do on a daily basis but when using rental equipment attachments on my machine i usually hook up the inlet hose then crack the fitting on the exit hose. I then activate the hydraulics for a second or so until my machines fluid is running out. Then i tighten up the exit hose fitting and plug it into my machine.
That way i do not contaminate my machines fluid. I do loose a little fluid but its easy to top off. Probably over reacting but I do not have to loose any sleep over fluid issues.
Would think it would work fine on your set up if it was really necessary on a project.

Redlands Okie,
I had installed QDs on my excavator thumb installation, then removed them and went with hard fittings. I decided I didn't need the auger on the CAT and took the QDs off. Taking the bucket off the CAT is a pain...and that is if you don't break the orings over the pins when putting the pins back in. I don't like mixing fluids at any time. Tractor transmission fluid and excavator hydraulic fluids are different ponies.
I don't rent hyd. attachments for my machines as even after your quick flush, there still my be metal particles getting into your machine's system from rode hard and put away wet attachments.

Makes sense Brandi, good points

Where in North Central Ok are you? I got an Aunt and Uncle, as well as cousins in Shattuck Ok. Grandma and Grandpa's farm was less than a mile from the state line on our side.

I was back at the fence building Friday and today. Well, mostly clearing trees for a corner gate to the neighbor's property.

I had messed up and put in a brace post for the corner. I didn't realize my mistake for a few weeks. So the Big RED Beast (BRB) pulled the 8 foot, 8 inch top brace post out. It was weighted down with 5 bags of 60# concrete. The Beast strained, but pulled it out. Then I had to get the old concrete off.

Since the CAT has a 4 foot cleanout bucket on it, the BRB had to dig a tall, skinny Sweetgum tree root's out. The BRB could not push the sweetgum over. Just a little too lite. I had to get the CAT and dig more (sandy clay) and finally saw the sweetgum move a little when pulling on a huge root. Then I just slowly pushed it over. This Sweetgum had enough roots for two trees that size. 7-14-17 Tall Skinny Sweetgum Dug Down.jpg7-14-17 Tall Skinny Sweetgum Root Ball.jpg

I filled in the hole and back bladed until after dark. 7-14-17 Back Dog Leg Corner Minus Sweetgum.jpg This morning I got the gate hung. 7-14-17 Back Dog Leg Corner Gate To Lori & Von's.jpg To the left of the green gate is the easement to the 3 acres behind me. The grey/silver tube gate is my access to that easement. To the right of the green gate is the neighbor's property that will have the access. As you can see, there are already trees down that need removed. Sad thing is their horses are cribbing lots of trees and killing them. So I have a lot of huge dead trees to play with overthere........when a get a round toit.

When I came in at 1pm for siesta and to escape the heat, it started pouring, so I didn't get the ex-brace post reinstalled.

I do have a grapple, but I took it off the day before to fill in the hole with the bucket. One chain is way faster than swapping bucket to grapple and back to bucket.
