IMO, it's one of the realest shows that has ever been on TV...

Granted it is TV and they have to make shows that are entertaining for 30-60 minutes (TV time)...but the wholesomeness still comes through...It's the (natural) character of the family that makes it...

When I was in the 7th or 8th grade a teacher (Ms. Reagan) taught us that there are three things than can never be taken away from you...they were: family, character and love...The Robertson family shows money has not seemed to test them...
...most of the viewers of other (so called) reality shows have characters that the viewers love and those they hate,...don't see that with this show...IMO this is another thing that separates DD from other shows...!...(it's not mostly about work-place personality conflicts)...

This show makes me laugh and sometimes so hard my eyes water. Not to many shows that can do that anymore. :thumbs up: for DD.

Anybody watch the 2 new episodes of DD last night? The show is so stupid yet I rarely ever miss one.

I cracked up when Si got the poodle for dove hunting. And I'll be durned if that dog didn't retrieve that dove. And yes, as Phil noted, he had a nice set of "cods." Just can't help but laugh at those boys.

One thing I didn't like about the first episode. They were treating the opening day of duck season like a joke. As a duck hunter myself, I have to say that opening day is NOT a joke. It only comes once ever 365 days and should be treated with reverence. Those boys got rich on being hardcore duck hunters. To see them make a joke about opening day kinda makes me sad.

But......making jokes is what they do. I haven't watched the new episodes yet but have seen the old ones about 3 times each.

I've got about 25 episodes on DVR. I only watch about once a month for one night when I'll watch a bunch of episodes. Lately, many shows have been piling up on the DVR cuz I'm too busy TBNing to watch television.

Opening day is no joke in maryland either. I love the show but it's a business like all others. I just wonder how them boys would fare with us when we are clipping along in Fishing bay at 40 knots and its 25 degrees. Looking for some black heads and Cans. They had on their stocking caps in green leaf Louisiana.

Did anyone notice that Phil was cleaning and prepping an A5 and not the sponsored benelli??

I own both but I would sell my benelli

I recorded it and watched it with my wife last night. I didn't start watching it until reading a thread here and now watch all of them. I don't care if it isn't "real" or is staged, like others I really like the family values, family interaction and it makes me smile, so that is more than enough for me.

I could sure identify with the "opening day" and RV. We live on a deer rich farm, but my wife, sons and their children all camp close to fifty miles away where we began hunting almost forty years ago. We roughed it for many, many years, but as I got older, I got a camper and now sleep in comfort. All those years freezing in flimsy tents and cooking over open fires or a Colemen cook stove when we could afford it are treasured memories. There is just nothing like the opening day of hunting season and spending it with those you love.

I would guess Phil really takes duck hunting seriously.he gave up a almost certain pro football career because he preferred to duck hunt
