Well, we finally got our Japanese Maple planted in line with the front room window to give a similar view to Inspector507's house, but we went a little further out from the front of the house.

Also showing in the photo is the 30 yards of topsoil I finished spreading the other day to complete last year's major project (I planted grass seed too).

There's an "added" bonus in this picture too!

That could have been here today Andy, raining like crazy and the sun just a shining. Must have sent our rainbow to the NE to you.
Good luck on the Maple, it'll look great there.

My wife and I were just admiring the double rainbow from our living room window and not ten minutes later I came upon your above post with a picture of a rainbow in the post.

Ive got a lot of Maples on my property . Most turn to a golden color this time of year . But , a few turn flame red . Are these different types of Maple ?? Some are within a couple of yards of each other , so soil doesn't seem to be in the equation .
Thanks , John

We have 2 gum trees about 50 feet apart.
They are both the same age have about the same size shape and height.
The fall colors are very different on each one.
One turns various tints of orange, yellow red and brown.
The other turns scarlet and as the season progresses the hues of scarlet change along with the season.
