Ok....My truck was at the dealer for it's 30k service but i needed to move my TLB so i borrowed a friends. Never crossed my mind that his truck is lighter then mind. So the truck & trailer is on a incline & I didn't chock the wheels since I would not have had to with my truck. Well as i was backing the tractor onto the trailer, the rear wheels of the tractor were about a foot onto the deck of the trailer & the front wheels where on the ramp I heard this loud scraping noice. Yuo you guessed it....the entire truck & trailer were rolling down the road as the rear end of the truck was elavated from the wieght of the tractor! As the truck is now starting ot built up speed my heart is pounding mack 5 so I decide to drive the tractor off. By now I would guess we are doing about 9 - 10 mph possibly faster. So as I start to pull forward - off the trailer the truck turns left & the truck & trailer jacknife causing us to stop thank god.
You should have seen the peoples faces in the cars that had to stop for me. Repairs to buddy's truck...$900.00. Repairs to trailer.....$300.00 in metal stock. The faces of the stopped traffic....priceless!

Lesson of the day:
Always chock all wheels on both truck and trailer.if you just chock the back wheels of the truck they could be lifted up over the chocks in a situation like this.

If you would have kept backing the tractor onto the trailer the wight probably would have brought the truck wheels back down on to the ground.

Yesterday while pushing snow, the guy running my tractor was stopped by a lady that asked hin if he had time to do hers also. Well ofcourse he said. This was a driveway he'd never cleared before. On the first push down the drive, a loud bang and resultant sudden stopping of the tractor happened. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifBacking off from what ever stopped him, he saw that there was a section of the drive that was a good 3" higher than the rest. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gifThe lady then warned him about it. I told the guy that maybe he should have asked about things like that before pushing on an unknown driveway. I didn't hurt anything though, but the world stopped moving pretty quick! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Did the same thing with a load of Rip Rap. My wife wondered why I had her dial my cell phone when I was standing in the yard! The phone still worked, scratched but worked! Needless to say I'm still living that one down!

Check out the pic of my shed two days after I put it up. I thought I could wait until the weekend to anchor it down. Surely a gust of wind wouldn't come up in that short of timeframe....

Neighbors were taking pictures and laughing as I approached the scene. Believe it or not I was able to bend it back together thanks to the cheap flimsy sheet metal.

Just had to add my two cents: yesterday was cutting some tree limbs and using the FEL to push the brush to the fire pile. While pushing a load to the pile, looked back, saw something shiney in the mud - it was my cell phone. Cleaned some of the mud off and it still worked. Was so involved in the cell phone that I forgot I had put the chain saw in the bucket with the brush and dumped it on the fire pile. Hooked it with a chain and pulled it out of the fire and it still works as well. Guess it was my lucky day.

Not exactly tractor related but along the same lines anyways.
Spent many weekends & $$'s adding a 1/2 bath & laundry room to my 1st humble abode many moons ago. I had a small attached garage and built it in the back section of it, taking about 1/3 of it's space. My new bride felt we needed separate bath rooms as I am geared to SS&S every morning. So, after putting the finishing touches to it, I hold off on insulating the brand new pipes as I thought " they're inclosed in a garage so that should be enough". Well it weren't. On day two after construction, I go to use it and no water comes forth from the faucets! Seems we were in the middle of experiencing the coldest night/day of record in the nation on that particular day (-24 below) and when I went under to check my pipes, both the cold & hot 3/4" feeds had multiple humps in them with some split with ice sticking out. After a couple nights of using a hair dryer & resoldering pipes, I had my water flowing again & I definitely wrapped every piece of copper pipe I could get too!

My most embarrasing moment (last year);\
Got a new JD 790 with all the attacemnts and the neighbors began to notice and I found myself getting a few small jobs smoothing driveways.
Got a referral from a friend for a job at a dudes house "down the way". Worked on his driveway and really did a smart job. It looked great!
The only problem was....
I spent all day on the wrong driveway. It wasn't the right house.

Why in the world would you be calling yourself dummy for making a SMART mistake like that, that gets you more seat time?

Heck, It'd just about work in reverse. Process of elimination. This driveway? "nope" darn. This one? "nope" oh well. How about now? "nope" Am, I getting close?

Well nobody would hook up cables backward for jumpstarting. I knew that I could never do that. Fortunately, I merely blew the diodes on my garden tractor and it only cost 50 bucks. I love this chain of posts!
