Noobie here, literally have maybe 1-2 hours on our new to us tractor. We've had a dump trailer for hauling stone, firewood, mulch, etc. but we need to replenish some of our landscaping stone around the house. We have black granite, so it's a bit bigger than your normal 3/4" rock. What's my best bet here to get it out of the dump trailer and use the tractor to move it?

1. Dump it on the driveway and scoop it up

2. Try to use the dump trailer to dump it into the bucket (Figured less mess - maybe more work?)

3. Please don't laugh, I'm a reformed yuppie.

I just was trying to avoid dumping it into the grass or driveway to reduce clean up/spillage

Dump it wherever you need it on a blue tarp. It's not perfect but you can get most of it up.

Using a blue tarp is a good idea.

Or, could you tilt the dump trailer slightly, then shovel it from the dump trailer into your loader bucket?

Depending on dump angle, bucket width, and trailer width; dumping directly into the bucket is the way to go to eliminate waste/mess. Most dump trailers, the back is so low when dumping, it's hard to get the tractor bucket under it, while curled to keep from spilling.

I tried the dump into the bucket method, it worked, but there was still a little mess, and it was kind of a pain back and forth with the dump making sure I didn't damage something when the rock backed up in the bucket. Could easily bend the bars that the ramps attach to.

I use my neighbors dump trailer to get a few loads of rock and his will let you chain the tailgate so when you dump it only opens a few inches so you can limit how far it opens. The only thing is the trailer is wider than my bucket, but I don’t get a whole lot on the ground And I have said 5 gallon buckets where my buckets getting it and let it dump into the 5 gallon buckets also

I've done similar with mine. (Steel bed) With the right tilt, you can pull it in fairly easily with a rake, or push it in from the bed with a rake.

Extra points for putting down a tarp where some inevitable spillage happens.

A buddy of mine, when he had his dump trailer, backed it up on ramps to allow more height to dump from. He also had a wireless remote wired up so he could be on tractor and control the trailer! Was pretty slick setup. Feel free to copy!

I like to use sheets of plywood.

Ahh that was my thought process, maybe I just bite the bullet and dump it on a portion of the driveway with a tarp.
