Well, our little guy is certainly growing up. He went from lolly pop jigs to micrometers, red neck gear to rotary tables, mig welding to plasma cutting, solar out house to indoor plumbing. Now, all grown up fixing ICP-MS gear, what's next ? Shuttle mission

WOW ! the similarities on our homemade dump trailers are striking. Just goes to show that brilliant minds really do think alike When did you build that? You did a super job. I must say I'm humbled, your's is much better How does your tailgate work?

i had been looking around here for some time now but when i saw your trailer i just had to say something
i made it about a year ago now
as for the tailgate, i made it so it can be opened and locked to the side of the trailer using a gate latch on the side and on the back of the trailer. that way all i have to do is push it closed and it automatically locks or just push it open to the side and it will automatically lock open for dumping
its held on with a long solid pin that can be taken out to remove the tailgate if needed
you can kinda see the gate latch i welded to the back in the pic i added
