I should've mentioned powder coat finish - get it if you can. I saw more new rusty trailers sitting on the dealers lot...2 years of pretty good use on mine and the finish is still holding up.

I have a Holmes 5k gross (3,180 payload) single axle dump which has held up well except the powder coat in the bed has peeled in a couple of places. I haven't had any problems hauling anything heavy and hauled two tons of wood pellets the other day without any issues. Today I purchased some paint on bed liner (Hurculiner) from Tractor Supply. Has anyone used this product???

Try this website, it's a neat alternative to dump trailers, I don't know how expensive they are, but it is a neat concept.

I wish I had seen these a couple months ago before I bought the dumper. Great concept. I wonder how durable the walking floor is .

Back in September, I rented a bumper pull 7x12 10,000 lb twin cylinder telescoping Bri-Mar trailer, my wife was so impresses with the whole thing that I got the O.K. to buy one. After a couple of weeks of research and pricing I came up with two models by Load Trail a 8x14 14,000 deck over bumper pull with removable sides for around $6000 Tandem Axle Dump Trailers and a GN 83”x14 14,000lb for $5400 14000 lb Tandem Axle Gooseneck Dump Trailer - Load Trail . They both are equipped with scissor hoist, ramps and three way tailgate (Barn door) electric brakes on both axels. Everything you need to include battery charging. I purchased the GN and it came with an Interstate Heavy Duty Deep Cycle Marine Battery.

I had not put the trailer to the test until this past weekend. I loaded it with some wet soil and rock. The soil was wet enough it almost dripped. After I got the trailer loaded it started down pouring. Nearly a half-inch rain fell during the 25 miles to where I dumped it. When I opened the tailgate and my wife started lifting, the soil came out like sloppy mud. Once it started to rain, I knew the trailer was going to be overloaded, I had to take and off load.

Some things I learned during research.
Quality:
Economy Better Best
Single Ram Twin Ram Scissor Hoist
14 Gage Metal 12 Gage 10 Gage
No charging optional/std Std
2” coupler 2” or 2 5/16” opt 2 5/16” adjustable

Did you dump it in a driveway? Just wondering how a truck & max loaded trailer handles a rain soaked back yard.

PS, is this an ad for Load Trail products?

edit: the NEATrailers link, watching the gravel load movie, sure doesn't look like 7,000 lbs. load.

No, it may sound like a sales pitch but I am really satisfied with the quality of the trailer. I researched a lot of different brands and like most people wanted a fair price and a quality trailer. After I found the two brands that were equal, I started searching for the best prices then I had to decide on bumper or GN that was the toughest decision. If I went with a 14ft GN I can haul my JD 990 but with a bumper hitch I could always have my wife bring it somewhere with her suburban. For the weight capacity I was concerned about hooking it to the receiver even with a 2 5/16 inch ball. After last weekend I am glad I went with the GN I don't think the bumper hitch would have been safe the longer it rained.

I dumped it a place where a guy collects free fill. Commercial property, he takes anything considered clean fill (no organic or trash) everything else asphalt, rock, cement, block & brick and soil. His property sits on a side cliff with at least a 100+ft drop down and I would speculate he has reclaimed at least several hundred feet out and at least 1/3 mile in length. It is pretty amazing, when you think how much fill has been dumped there over the years.
