Doesn't have anything to do with endorsements. It just has to do with what I feel are the best products out there.

You gotta go with whats best for you. each of use knows no one else pays our bills every month /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I like JD and Ford. I just sold a Bronco I bought new with 100,000 miles on it and it was mint. I have always had good luck with Ford and GM. After 20 years of curseing Dodge We bought one this year and so far so good. Richard, I am going to try to track down a Laramie 3500 SWB SRW CC with the diesel to give a test run. I am hopeing Ford will do better than a 1k rebate when the others are at $2500 but time will tell. I have had great luck with the Duramax. I like the king Ranch very much but the dealers here order them set up like station wagons for the family instead of trucks. I want that leather interior ! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Dave

Jim,
Maybe you didn't see what was in my garage......... 2 FORDS

My brother sold them for almost 10 years, so I got good deals. He has now switched to Chevy..........does that mean I HAVE to buy one?

Probably if I want him to speak to me again /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can get friends and family 1 % below invoice on the dodge but I do not like that quad cab at all. Besides the highway ride on my wifes Hemi is nothing short of miserable compared to the GM.

I drove a four door half ton hemi about fifty miles the other day. It is a quick little bugger. But I didn't like the ride and the seat didn't feel right.

By the same token my son in laws 2001 2500HD doesn't ride as smooth as my Lucy and she's got a nineteen thousand five hundred GVW.

I have the duramax and I love it.

I have a bud who buys about seventy Ford diesels a year. Their first two six dot ohs puked immediately. One at nine hundred miles and the other at two thousand. I asked the driver of one of his F450's how he liked the six dot oh and he said it's like having an old 350 in a three quarter ton pickup. You have tons of power until you put a real load behind it. With a Cat 416C on a dual tandem gooseneck he said you didn't dare pull out in front of someone.

I'm getting ready to go to the dealer for some warranty work on Lucy. The air compressor and tank that operate the air ride seat died, tank leaked, compressor died from overwork I guess.

It's the same problem I've had with GM the last ten years. The little things that drive you up a wall. Two buds who have Dodges haven't had that kind of problem. And I thought they were the ones afflicted with pickemupitisfrutratiousas.

My bud with all the Ford diesels loves his seven point threes. He's not so crazy about the new engine though.

Have you looked at different shocks or tires? My '01 Cummins 4x4 longbed quad rides pretty good, although I can only compare it to Fords. I have always been leary of the Chevy/Gm front end; to me, imho, real trucks have beefy straight axles. You do give up a little ride comfort for that though.

"E" rated tires are pretty stiff and will affect ride quality. So can shocks. Maybe the combo you got is the heavy duty type?

I have heard, but have no data, that the gm/chevy has been the most "car like" ride.

Either way, in todays truck market,, the Dodge with Cummins is best, but all three are so good, it comes down to personal preference /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Really though, it is hard to go wrong with any of the "Big-3"; they all make great trucks.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here but the soft squishy car like rides on the trucks and SUV's are a real turn off for me. We test drove an Expedition in '97 and the ride just gave me the crawls. It just screamed Yuppie!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I'm also told by a friend that recently bought a Yukon that the Chevy ride is even smoother than the Expedition. What he considers a selling point for I consider a point against. Makes the car companies jobs pretty tough I guess.

I also wonder how much these squishy car like rides are contributing to the SUV roll over rate. I know they're top heavy but the addition of soft suspensions and high roll rates can't help the situation much.

Glad to hear about the upgrades, I'm getting ready to get #7 Duramax.
I had a guy ask me Saturday about selling him my '03.
Was going to call dealer tomorrow about ordering one, now I'll have to ???? him on the new specs.

Yeah I hate a soft ride as well. I had a Tahoe with a 350 for two years. It was a great SUV but too soft and just not my style. On the '04 Hemi 1500 I dont think its a shock issue but the Hydro formed frames is so stiff and I almost wonder if the 20" wheels were a marketing afterthought. Its like the geometry of the front end is all wrong. I need to take it in I guess and have the service manger look at it. I have driven behind a few others though and I can see them skip when they hit a bump. Its not a pleasant feeling. I Definately agree that any of the big three are fine but I am biased twords the Duramax after putting 60k in two years on mine with zero problems and a car like ride. I am waiting now to see the new '04 3500 single rear wheel ext cab with the improved max and allison. I guess its the Tim taylor in me screaming " More power !" lol. Dave

I knew you at least had one, wasn't sure what it was though but also figured it was an oval since you told me your brother worked for Freddy the guitar playin' freak. Now that you'll be buyin' a new Chevy you'll see what a real truck is. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Honestly, people may pick on Chevys for their soft ride, but I've worked mine to the max w/o any problems. Compared it to the wife's aunt's F150 2wd one day. They had <1000 of Quikrete in the bed, the bumper was almost dragging the ground and was completely out of suspension travel. I've been hauling sand/gravel for the pole barn. I'll throw 2000#s in the bed and another 2000#s on my little 2 wheel trailer and it won't squat as much as that Ford did w/ a lot less weight. Does it squat? Yes, but not near as much as the Ford w/ less than half the weight and I still have suspension travel. Only time I've ever come close to bottoming my truck out was with the 10k pound skidsteer loaded too far forward on the trailer. So I'll take my soft ride and my better gas mileage.
