DX33 Cold weather filter?

I appreciate sharing info. We are all in this together. There is no doubt there is too much pressure in the charge/cooler circuit in cold weather. I will be looking into any changes in that system in 2004. What is the new p/n for the old 890 filter?

That's what I thought you would say. That is a completely different filter than the old 890. BY CNH admission will not seal in cold AS WELL as the old 890 filter. Smaller diameter, may well be shorter. Certainly not the same filter with new paint and part number that we have seen over the last 6 or 7 years. Cold weather problems in the filter/cooler circuit have been around since 1320's and 1520's. I spent some time in Parts today and came up with no changes in this circuit since before the DA's came out, at least in the class II's; nothing different beginning in early 2004 except the recent filter change. No one at CNH has a grip on this problem. I reference the Asist Knowledge object concerning high charge pressures on Class II tractors. That is the crux of the problem, neatly sidestepped. We are asked to test at a point OTHER than where the highest pressure in the cooler/charge pressure system exists, and NO ONE has come up with filters/coolers/hoses that will stand the ACTUAL PRESSURES FOUND IN THE REAL WORLD! (end of rant) Spencer, you and I are saying much the same thing. But it sure sucks when an otherwise satisfied customer dumps the contents of his (insert model here) on the floor of his pristine garage floor while he thinks he is allowing his tractor to warm up. These folks are doing nothing wrong, and we are all getting screwed. end of second rant.

I think they hide some of the stuff in the assist system. I am surprised you cant find any of our complaints and answers from new holland we have six now on these filters and pressure problem. One of them stated that this new filter number was the 890 just from a new supplier. I have had others tell me of problems and gone looking in the assist system for them and dont find them myself so I guess I could see why you cant find the info I am giving you.

The way I have Asist figured is this. Any concerns filed by an individual dealer and responses to those concerns can be viewed by the CNH service guys and that dealer only. As concerns become verified and legitimate solutions are developed, they become knowledge objects and are viewable by anyone with access to the system. The guy that responded to you that the 87300195 filter is the same as the old 890 and 770 is flat wrong, and needs to go take a look. You should be able to verify this at your store. This whole issue really torques me because it was a minor problem 8 years ago when I started here, and instead of being long since corrected, it is now a crisis. They need to flow more cold oil through the filter and cooler and be done with it. Smaller filters and low pressure hoses and clamps don't cut it. Using Low-vis oil should be a performance choice, not a containment necessity.

Oh great! Just what I needed to find. I just ordered a DX33 with snowblower, it's going to be delivered the day after tomorrow. Does this mean I'm hosed if the temp falls below 5 degrees? Does the "cold" filter solve the problem? Wish I had come acroos this BEFORE I purchased.

thanks

Keith

Keith,

The new filter has seemed to have fixed the problem. I am a little miffed that the dealer charged me for the additional $33.00 for the cold weather filter after they drove the tractor out of my yard and left a trail of fluid in the snow that has now discolored my grass which will probably be dead in the spring. I really like the DX33 but wonder about some of these issues.

Only 33.00 that must be his cost the filter list for around 47.00
If I remember right cost is around 33.00 but he should have been able to get it covered under warranty for you if it has been a problem.

The $33.00 was in addition to the price I had paid for the standard filter which was $19.00. I think the invoice was arond $50.00. Just a little stiff I thought. I would have thought that if there was a service bulletin out they would have been aware of this.
