If you purchased undyed fuel and paid federal fuel tax for non-highway equipment, you have the option to
either:
Claim an annual federal fuel tax credit using Form 4136, Credit for Federal Tax Paid on Fuels
when you file your Federal Income Tax return, or
If you paid more than $750 of federal fuel tax per quarter for fuel used off-highway, you may
claim a refund by filing Form 8849, Claim for Refund of Excise Taxes

The gas pumps with one nozzle for all three grades pulls gas from one or three tanks? I'd think it works the same way, but agree that the hose would hold the previous grade fuel.

It does NOT work the same way with gasoline as it does with ULSD.

ULSD cannot be contaminated with any #2 diesel fuel containing more than 15ppm sulfur concentration by law.

The diesel particulate filter on my 2008 Mercedes costs over $1,500 to replace if contaminated with sulfur from any fuel >15ppm sulfur, hence ULSD ONLY!

I will add in that the sticker on the pump said 'ALL diesel was ULSD" .. etc..

this doesn't change the dye issue any though..

Mind you.. I'll probably have to do this on credit card as diesel is near 5$ a gallon now!

Which brings up another point- some of the diesel stations I frequent cut the pump off at $50 on credit card purchase! That doesn't buy many gallons now. Getting real irritating to keep having to reset and repay up to 3 times to fill my pickup

Remember they did not chase the moonshiners for the alcohol they chased them for the tax dollars(Revenuers) All they want is money they do not care if it is red blue pink or green and they darn sure hate returning a dime. Just make you some biodiesel out of french fry oil and enjoy your TAX FREE weekend smelling that wonderful french fry exhaust!!!!

The whole homemade biodiesel thing has suddenly become much more costly. Very few places are giving away the used oil now, anybody with a clue is now selling it.
