Why not just order a full kit from a company like Borla or Magn Flow and do it yourself?

For me it was $$$$. Borla and Magnaflow are no doubt good systems, but very expensive. $860 for the Borla and about the same for the Magnaflow even though they do not list my specific model. The Magnaflow kit for the 2011 GMC is closer to $1,000 while Borla doesn't list a kit for 2011 GMCs.

After 1.5 weeks here's my thoughts if anyone cares:

So far, the 6.2 is getting around 17MPG, 50% highway and 50% local. Just fine by my opinion. Same as my previous 5.3.

That's very impressive milage for such a big engine. Did you do the math on it by measuring the miles you drove devided by how much fuel you bought to fill up the tank? or was that based on the onboard milage computer?

My experience with Ford has been that those onboard computers are not very accurate compared to doing the math at the gas station.

The 4.8 GM engines that I've looked at in their half ton trucks are rated for 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway on the sticker at the dealer, but those were 2010 trucks.

Thanks for the review, I'm looking and still unsure what I want to buy.

On my Dodge truck with the 20" wheels, I bought a set of 18" wheels and tires as a second set. The factory tires were more of a street tire and there wasn't much choice in 20" tires. If you go to 18" or 17" rims, you have a lot more choices for. If you are careful and chose the right size, you won't have to mess with the speedometer.

I am going to add aftermarket exhaust to my 2010 Challenger in the future, and the story on Challenger forums is that Corsa makes the best exhaust. It gives a nice sound, but isn't annoying inside the vehicle.

Did the math...I don't pay much attention to the computer generated mileage.

One thing about the smaller V8's is that you have to hammer them harder. Seems mileage suffers a bit for that.

Mileage is OK..Wouldn't call it impressive really. Normal for the breed.

Remember that I'm also driving 50% interstate...That helps the overall. Puttering around locally would probably be 13-14 at best.

Flowmasters are nice. Like the metal tone they give. I must say, this is one strange truck. It makes me wonder if someone ordered this truck and didn't take delivery on it for some unknown reason. As far as the factory duals, in one word. Cost. Whatever setup you choose would beat out factory duals anyway. With all the EPA regulations, it would be all show and no sound.

Agree with you there..Didn't bother to ask if it was ordered this way by someone or not. Figured I'd get some canned answer anyway.

It is oddly optioned, that's for sure. I like it though, just a few things I'd trade for other things...Adjustable pedals...I have no need for that. Stabilitrack works well in the the wife's H3, may not have ordered it for myself, but we'll see how it does. Went up the BIL's steep concrete driveway on Christmas, was covered in ice, and I didn't see it in time to put the truck in 4x4. Started fishtailing and the dash lights up...Well Duh?

The stereo was much better sounding in my '04. Not sure what I can do about that.

I find that the stereo sounds much better playing CDs or with input from a MP3 Player. The radio sounds weak.

The 55 series 20" tires are not too swift on snow and ice. I will have to use caution there for sure.

I sold the 20s and bought a set of factory All Terrain wheels and Goodyear silent armor tires. The high speed cornering was better with the 20s but I prefer the all terrain tires in all other conditions. My out of pocket cost on the tire and wheel change was less than $200.

A deer decided to cross the road in front of me last night then it crossed again right in front of me. I can confirm the brakes function very well. Everything came out from under the rear seat without engaging ABS.

I've thought about changing out the rims...Don't really care about high speed cornering anyway.

You're right about the CD...Haven't tried an ipod or anything else, but the Metallica "Enter Sandman" on CD sounded really good:D

Nice truck you have there...

Thanks for the update Tim.

Just curious, about how many miles do you have on it? I've found that the new trucks seem to take a while before the mileage sets in.
