Early Review of the 2011 GMC

You guys are right about the 20" wheels and bigger. It must have been about 2002 or so when I saw the first Dodge with factory 20" wheels. My neighbor at my old house bought one. It was a 4x4 and he called me to pull him out. I took the F-150 I had at the time and sure enough he was stuck in 4" of mud. He was trying to get back to the barn to deliver some horse feed and was just plain stuck. I pulled him out and a few days later I was driving by and his wife had her Ford Aerostar front wheel drive van back there. I sat a watched her come right out where he had been stuck just a few days earlier. I gave him all kinds of crap over that and I bet within 1 year of him buying that truck he traded it on a Excursion V-10 4x4.

The problem was not with the truck, it was the tires. They were putting Goodyear tires on them that just plain stunk for a 4x4. Its what you would have put on a Mustang or Camaro. That truck would not go anywhere with them skins. Most front wheel drive cars would have done better than that 4x4 truck.

These tires aren't the greatest but I did climb a 45 degree incline, ice covered driveway that is 1/8 mile long with them. Did OK..My Wild Country XTX's did a little better on the 17's...I can adapt.

I really dig the factory 20's on your truck. It fills up the fenders and looks great. You can find factory 17in wheels and tires on craigslist all the time. You could run them in the winter time and be out less $$ than a set of tires. Everyone is ditching the 17's for the 20's like yours came with.

You're right about the CD...Haven't tried an ipod or anything else, but the Metallica "Enter Sandman" on CD sounded really good:D

May be a dumb question, but, have you set up the equalizer for the sound you prefer?

The 55 series 20" tires are not too swift on snow and ice. I will have to use caution there for sure.

The majority of those 20" + tires are made for looks & summer / pavement type driving - not snow & ice.

I did..just has an echo chamber effect to it...getting used to it though.

Once I recover from the cash I put down, I'm going to look into "real" duals for it...Stainless hopefully. Something with a nice bark..Flowmaster maybe.

Why didn't they do that in the first place?...Dodge has them.

I installed the Dynomax catback dual exhaust system on my 08 truck with the 5.3. and I installed the Flowmaster catback dual exh on my 07 Hemi Charger. Each system was under $500. with a little online shopping around. Both also have the K&N air intake system as well. They both sound great.

Which one has the better bark?....I'm a GM big block kinda guy and that noise is music to me...I'm guessing the Flowmaster..Love those things with headers.

As I said, both have great sound but the Flowmaster system has a little better bark. The bad part is they both do not sound good when the engine management system cuts out half the cylinders for economy and you're only running on 4 cyl. Guess I'll just have to keep my foot in it. Maybe in the spring I'll figure out how to disable that feature.
