A softer mat will likely dampen sound and conform to your floor better /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: Lights

Harv - Ok, here's the picture you requested. Actually, it's a little worse-case than you requested. The sun is not just shining, it's shining directly into the lights(about 3 p.m.). You can tell that by looking at the lights on the right, which are not on, and from the reflection in the rear glass.

Unfortunately, I've now run into a limitation with the camera. The difference in brightness is still very large to the naked eye - it still hurts to look directly at the amber one (the one that's on, of course) from a distance of 20 feet (I stepped it off this time). But, the main difference you can see in the picture is that the amber reflects ambient so much better that you can the red illumination shows up better than the amber.

Re: Lights

Not too sure what happened on that last one. Let's try it again...

Re: Lights

Another picture of the lights with the sun directly on them.

Re: Lights

Here's a close-up. In this picture, the amber light that's in the lower left, the factory turn signal, is on - it's a 21-watt incandescent.

Re: Sound deadening

Andy in NH - Thanks for the link to the sound absorbing materials. I think I'm going to order some of the headliner stuff for my ROPS, too. I think it would help a lot. I'm looking for something a little more substantial for the floor, though - something that has a rubber or vinyl floor-mat type surface.

Thomas - So what new device shall be next.

Well, not counting the air shock for the seat, which I hope to have in a day or two, and wiring the lights and rigging a circuit for hazard warning lights and turn signals, I'm planning on several things: a bunch of gauges, probably connected to a PLC of some sort, a (wireless, hopefully) tilt indicator for the bucket, and some other ideas I haven't fleshed out yet... There will always be something to do, though. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: Lights

Mark -

For some reason I lost track of this thread there for a while, but I took a look at your daylight shots just now and dang, them babies is bright. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Anybody with eyeballs should have no trouble noticing you coming at them, but I guess they would at least have to be facing you. Now, if you wanted to dance a laser beam out the back, you could probably get their attention no matter which way they were facing. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

...a (wireless, hopefully) tilt indicator for the bucket...

Would you be thinking of an edge reading type of indicator to tell you what angle your bucket is at? I've been looking for the same thing for the fork assembly on my 'bota. Don't know as I need a remote though. 'Course if you really wanted to get carried away I could see a sensor array/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif on the backhoe to give you depth below ground. Oh yeah - and a GPS accurate to inches, and.....

Re: Sound deadening

The floor mats are not meant for a finished surface - they are designed to be installed below the floor covering of your choice. Now a burled maple floor /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif (what the heck, with all the other embelishments you could be the first one to have a tractor with hardwood floors!) might be a bit noisy but one of those insutrial mats on top of that sound deadining mat might be just the trick.
