I've been doing this trick for a little while now.
One thing to be careful of:
If you're maneuvering the tractor with the check chains detached and dangling, be careful when backing. If they're set long enough, they can dig into the ground and become wedged. I've bent one and I'm pretty sure i did it while backing with the check chain dragging on a concrete floor.
