Easy Access to Bee Spray

I wouldn't peel the Velcro from the old can at all. You can buy this stuff in a roll. Just cut a new piece for a new can. I haven't stuck any bug spray to my tractor but I do have Velcro tape in the garage tool box and have used it for a lot of things. It may or may not work for your application.

The rare earth magnets available dirt cheap are so strong they'll pizz you off sometimes, but one the size of a quarter will hold a spraycan onto your ROPS for sure and two will keep it straight up and down until you yank it off with enough pull to mean it. Like these: http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R...=rare+earth+magnets&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Nevertheless I'm agreeing with those who say that if the bees are already after you it's too late for any spraying.

I used to have a postal pith helmet that I wore lace curtains under, stuck down the neck of my old field jacket. With heavy leather gloves and boots, jeans tucked into the boot top I'd go out amongst those motha's and work with them beating a fast tatoo on my helmet the whole time.

Once you get them riled they don't give up trying to get you and they'd keep trying as much as 100 yards away from their hive.

The best thing is to call the bee man but they don't work cheap.

Many beekeepers will come and capture bees for no charge just to have the bees for their apiary. Many local police departments keep a list of beekeepers to call in the event someone has a swarm show up on their property. Just be sure they are honey bees and not bumble bees, wasps or hornets. Many people use the terms "bee" and "wasp" interchangeably but they are not the same thing. A "Beek" may come and capture a colony of honey bees for you but if they are wasps, you are on your own or will have to call an exterminator.

I'm not worried about getting rid of them after I found them. That is easy enough to do after dark. With a magnet, it would be easy to grab as you are bailing off. I just want some defense in case I can't get away.

You can always get away. Kill the tractor and run. They won’t follow you far, usually after 20-30 yards they’re gone. Most stay and swarm the tractor, so just come back later. The worst I’ve ever had was backing up a short hill repeatedly, so I was backed right into the swarm. I still only got stung three times. If I was to take time to try to spray them, I don’t want to guess how many would have gotten me. You can try the spray (I like the magnet idea) but trust me, it’s not the way to go.

I'm inclined to agree with MMagis, get out of Dodge as fast as you can. I doubt anyone is good enough to fend off bees/wasps with a spray can.

Forget the spray idea, it will just slow you down and let them sting you more. The best thing I have found, short of a bee suit, and to really keep an eye open for the swarm as you go around. They won't get you when you first go over the nest, it's when you come back around and they are all swarmed around the nest, and pizzed. If you watch, you can see them and get stopped in time. I've kept myself from running over quite a few batches the last couple years, and no stings since.
Been there and done this many times over the past 50 years and must agree with MMagis. Second or third trip around after running over the nest is when you're most likely to get nailed so always be on the lookout in the area you just mowed over and you'll see the swarm before going near them. This is unless you stop the tractor right over the nest like I did while spraying along the edge of a field. Ended up getting whacked about a dozen times all at once until getting away.

they make Neoprene bags for Wine bottles that ought to hold 1 (or2) cans securely w/o banging & clanging.
