Echo CR352

My 352 works great but it uses too much bar oil. I went online to see if there was an adjusting screw and the video showed a screw under the right side where the chain is. So I go and remove my cover and no screw! Apparently, this model does not have an adjusting screw for the oiler. It leaves a small puddle when I finish using it. Anyone know of a way to adjust oiler?

If you mean CS352, mine does oil pretty liberally. But it does not leak enough oil to call a small puddle. Perhaps there is something broken on yours.

My bad. Yes a CS352. I don't think anything is broken as it doesn't leak if I don't use it. It appears that it just oils so liberally that the oil builds up inside the cover and runs off when I put it down. I wonder why they didn't put an adjuster screw on this model? Wait, they had to save $.

Also, any sawdust acts as a siphon to pull the oil out of the reservoir. That's why it's a good idea to brush them off to keep the oil puddles to a minimum.

Very common for all my saws to dribble some oil out after they have shut down. It has nothing to do with the oiler adjustment screw -- that only controls the flow rate of oil when the chain is turning.

All my saws dribble a little oil when they are parked. I think most if not all of it comes from the oil that gets sprayed around inside the clutch cover.

If you use bar oil that does not have tackifiers you may get more of that.

Well, it does have something to do with excessive oil. No oil, no drips - too much oil, puddles. Need something between these parameters. My last saw oiled ok but didn't puddle oil when parked. Just saying an adjustment screw is a good option to have. The factory guesses and doesn't have a clue how much oil these are throwing out when they assemble them with no control.

A puddle when sitting isn't because the oiler is oiling too much. It's a sign of something wrong. I have not taken my 352 apart but on other saws that I have taken apart there are seals of some sort between the pump body and the saw or between the oil tube and the pump. If they are even slightly damaged the saw can leak a lot of oil.

eric, the saw does not leak oil sitting around. It' not until I use it say for 3-4 hrs. off and on. I have to add bar oil every time I fill up with fuel. I find a small puddle the next day when I pick it up. I know what it is. It's oiling very liberally when I use it and then the excess oil in the clutch housing runs off to the bottom and puddles. I'm just saying this saw needs an oil adjustment control. Obviously, they are essential or Echo wouldn't put them on other models.

I've always added oil when filling with fuel for every saw that I've ever owned. If you don't, you may have damaged your oiler which would cause your leaks. It's also not uncommon for them to lose a little oil when setting. I just put the saw in a box, on newspaper or on a spill pad if I don't want to make a mess.

Saws are normally setup so you need to add oil every time you fuel up, but you should run out of fuel before you run out of oil -- that is an intentional design. If you run out of oil before you run out of fuel, then I'd be concerned. Modern saws are very stingy with oil and generally you can't get close to that situation even with the oiler cranked up.

Almost every saw I own will leave a small puddle after it's been used and put away. Because of this, I have stored saws on a patch of cardboard for as l can remember.

I bought 2 Echo chain saws that have worked well.

I believe the chainsaws come with 5 yr warranty so if yours is still within warranty maybe you can take it to the dealer you purchased it from to have it fixed.

You change bar oil recently? Was using a commercial made winter blend that would puddle to kingdom come. Went back to the husqvarna stuff...no more puddles.
