Echo CS-356 leaks bar oil

You might as well just pour it out on the ground before you put the saw away. I'm cheap--I pour the oil back into a container. Mine is like a squeeze ketchup bottle with a nozzle. It goes where my saws go.

I have one of those as well, restaurant style squeeze bottle with a snout on it/ Makes for much easier filling the oil tank and less mess too.

They all leak a bit, like I said do to temp swings and expansion of the bar oil inside and unlike the carbs that are impulse fed, there isn't much between the oil tank and the oil tank and the oil pump except some hose and the pumps aren't positive displacement so the oil can dribble out.

My CS-400 stays dry. It sits in a case, but it's always dry.

Down here in hot as Hades Florida, everything leaks, chainsaws, grease guns etc. I lay everything in a large size disposable aluminum cooking tray.

I store my leaky saws (which is all of them) on adult diapers.

Try laying it on it's right side. My Stihls & Echo don't leak if I do that.

Try laying it on it's right side. My Stihls & Echo don't leak if I do that.

I have to ask, which side. Bar side or recoil side?

I think it may depend some on the bar oil as well.

My old Stihl 031AV, when my mom had it, it leaked like crazy in its case... but then she and later her handymen just ran 30 weight oil as bar oil. Since I've had it, I put a slightly more proper bar & chain oil in it (TSC's store brand stuff) and there's barely any leaking now (and surprise, the chains don't go dull as quickly lol)

The surefire way to prevent oil leakage is to drain the oil after use. Every saw I've owned leaked bar oil if it was left setting with some in the tank.
