Electric Impact Wrench??

I've owned both Craftsman and Black & Decker corded electric half-inch impacts. Never had a problem with either one, but the torque was in the 210-250 range while my IR 231 pneumatic is about 425. And of course both of the electric ones were very big and heavy compared to the pneumatic impacts. But if you don't have a compressor handy, they are well worth the cost. My last electric was when we were full time RVers, so it was used for changing tires, and in one case, to change a complete set of springs under a tandem axle fifth-wheel.

I bought a 1/2" reconditioned CRaftsman at half price from their ebay store. It is a stout unit.

I have two, one was from Chuck Homier and it's junk that broke and a Sears (DeWalt). The Sears works fine but it's not equal to a good quality air powered impact. But it's nice for rotating tires and other things where you just don't want to fire up an air compressor. But it has struggled taking things like the bolt on the end of a crankshaft.

Got lucky one time and picked up pre DeWalt Black and Decker 12v impact wrench, has a long cable and battery clips, beats a lug wrench on trailer tires.

Thanks Guys,
Sounds like an electric impact wrench is in my future, I poked around on Amazon last night and the reviews pretty much echoed what was said here. The Milwaukee half inch drive seems to be about what I am looking for and it got great reviews.

I have an older 1/2" Milwalkee that is 20+ years old and going strong. Also purchased a cordless 3/8" Snap-On that works great and has amazing torque given its size. I'd purchase both again in a heart beat to suppliment my other air driven tiools (including other air driven impact guns in 3/8", 1/2" and 3/4").

I haveowned a Craftsman which did pretty good, wore out after about 5 years of pretty tough use. Replaced it with a DeWalt which is ok. My cordless Snap On does a great job but cost alot. And like everybody else has said my air impacts do the best, IR thunderbolt with 650 ft lbs, cant beat it.
