Tractor
bx-23 ,
HI,
The last couple times i ran the KUBOTA [BX-23] I had trouble starting. With the shift lever out of gear,I preheated the glow plugs ,then turned the key...nothing.pto was in neutral.played with the pedal...Will it start if the petal is pushed slightly but in not in gear?Fumbled with the pto lever, wiggled the key switch.,..I dont know how ,but it did finally take off,but not sure what i did.I also noticed once in a while when i put it out of gear and try to get off it will start to quit ,[hiccup]and then stay running.I noticed the tractor was wanting to creep[ever so slightly] when i tryed to get off when in gear.Do i have an electrical problem or is mt treadle pedal sticking. It was very cold the last couple useages, and i store it in a cold barn. Thanks for any advice.

I had a similar problem with my B2910 after getting it VERY muddy. I found that there was mud in the area of the pedal linkage that bound up the treadle pedal. I cleaned it out and lubed it up with WD-40 while moving the linkage back and forth. You might have a similar problem with ice buildup. If the pedal is off center, it will lock out the starter electrically.

Good Luck,
Joe

Check the operator presence lever under the seat. Some have two "leaf" springs and sometimes only one is needed. No need to dis-able switch (very dangerous) just remove one "leaf".

In extremely cold weather, the tolerances shrink and such abnormalities will show up as a result. If you can learn to live with it, in a few more weeks the cold will be gone (hopefully) and the tractor will return to normal. I am hesitant to make adjustments when the temperatures are in the single digits, because I know that the settings are not going to be constant. You might alleviate the problem for now, but might cause another problem in the spring. Like others have suggested, make sure that all linkage points are clean and well lubricated. The difference between start and no start, can be as very small in extreme cold. Warm the tractor to 40 degrees, and all is fine. If this problem continues to exist once the warmer weather is here, then check the factory manual and reset to factory specifications. Dusty
